MTT Agrifood Research Finland is a research institute acting under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry. MTT seeks Principal Research
Scientist for a permanent appointment.
The main responsibility of the Principal Research Scientist will be the assessment of sustainability of food and bioeconomy systems. One of the main tools will be life cycle assessment (LCA). Of the environmental impact categories, the most important ones are climate change (carbon footprint) and eutrophication, water footprint, and impacts to land use and biodiversity, as well as ecotoxicological impacts. Assessment of socio-cultural and economic aspects of food and bioeconomy systems will
also be on the research agenda. MTTs research programme 'Responsible Food Economy', aiming at improving responsibility and accountability at each stage of the food chain will form the research framework and set requirements for the research work of the Principal Research Scientist.
Key skills:
The Principal Research Scientist should have internationally significant credentials and a proven track record of successful fundraising, management and execution of large research projects. The successful
candidate will demonstrate outstanding communication skills, ability to achieve results and publishing in high-ranking journals. Applicants with experience in establishing linkages between ecosystem services and
corporate social responsibility and business economics will be given special consideration.
A successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in a field related to environmental, food or agricultural science. An excellent command of written and spoken English is desired. In addition to certificates, diplomas and other documents, we require references of two key collaborators of the candidate.
