tcm (Thurlow Countryside Management) has now opened a new office in Whitstable, Kent.
What’s this growing problem?
When asked to think of a weed, one envisions the dandelion or perhaps the clover, mildly annoying at worst and easily removed by a carefully positioned root barrier or maybe a splash of Weedol. It’s time to think again – surely and not so slowly we are being invaded by what the Environment Agency has hailed ‘the most dangerous plant in Britain’. Japanese knotweed, otherwise known as fallopia japonica, has become the current buzz word in the construction, rail and highways sectors, with the capacity to cross underneath a six lane motorway, it is, quite literally, set to take over the world!!
You have to remember that Japanese knotweed was an ornamental plant which won awards. These days, after people have given cuttings to friends and family on sunny Sunday afternoons, they have come to realise its invasive nature and the damage it can cause! Since then, people have gone on to dig and dump it illegally, hence the high chance of it being present on any derelict land It’s now these areas which are being developed and this is creating a large problem for so many of the country’s developers.
Growing Company - NEW Kent Office
The new tcm Kent office was opened by Business Manager, Sarah Wakefield on 1st December which it is planned to better serve customers in the south east of England and the south of London in particular.
Based upon experience, practical know-how and a scientific understanding of weed management, herbicides and the environment, the company's scope includes the provision of invasive weed management and ecology services for the construction, rail and highways sectors.
The Kent office is part of tcm’s strategy to enhance its national presence enabling the company to offer the best and highest quality service to its customers at a local and more intimate level.
tcm is growing fast - almost as fast as the knotweed itself and eventually plans to have offices two hours from anywhere within the UK. The launch of the Kent office comes after the success of opening other local offices in both Leeds and Edinburgh.
tcm is the only company in the UK to be actively researching and developing new cost effective solutions at our research facility based within Cambridge’s science park.
tcm would like to invite anyone interested to our official office launch which is to be held at the Marine Hotel in Whitstable on Friday the 2nd March at 12.00pm.
There will be a light lunch and refreshments for you to share with us and we are sure that you will find our presentation on our methodologies and case studies of interest. Senior management as well as local staff will be on hand to answer any questions, or provide additional information on our services.
