Modec is the world’s first manufacturer of purpose built zero emission vehicles. Heralded as the future of commercial transport, the British manufacturer was founded in 2004 by a team of automotive engineering experts and its vehicles were launched to the transport industry in March 2007.

The Coventry based company is leading the field by taking automotive technology to the next level, using the very latest in battery technology and LEAN manufacturing techniques.
Modec is expanding rapidly. International dealers are now being established in France, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, and Ireland. This growth is set to not only transform the commercial vehicle sector, but also the whole automotive industry.

Modec has a range of 100 miles or 60 miles depending on battery choice, a speed of 50 mph and a payload of 2 tonnes. Modec is powered purely by electricity. The battery takes approximately 8 hours to charge A standard 3 phase electricity supply is needed. Renewable energy sourced electricity is strongly recommended to ensure absolutely zero emissions.

Available standard models are Chassis cab, Drop-side, Box van; some with special bodies like Refrigerated box van, Tail lifts, Tipper.

Unlike any other electric vehicle, Modec began with a battery and the vehicle was built around it. This makes Modec ‘future proof’ and is the key to Modec’s iconic and striking design. This approach was taken instead of adapting an existing vehicle, which forces several compromises.

So far, over 150 Modec vehicles have been bought since production began in 2007 by
UPS, FedEx, M&S, Network Rail, Speedy Hire, Stadsdeel Amsterdam Oud Zuid, CenterParcs, Hildon Water, Stadstoezicht Amsterdam, CESPA (Madrid), Deret Group (France), UK Local Authorities also operate Modec vans, and there are more. Tesco was the first customer.
