Aerosol and particle technology for environment industries - Environmental

Fine dust is generated by industrial exhaust gases but in particular due to traffic. Environmental pollution is therefore caused particularly by exhaust gases of diesel-engined vehicles (diesel soot) but on the other hand also by abrasion of street, tyres and brakes and its resuspensions.

The particulate components in the exhaust gas have predominantly particle sizes of less than 1 µm and are detected practically completely with the fine dust fraction PM10 (particles smaller 10 µm) whereas particles from abrasion and resuspension are in part bigger than 10 µm. For fine dust PM10 limiting values are applied/valid for the annual average and the number of current exceeding of a current limiting value. In future also the fine dust fraction PM2.5 (particles smaller 2.5 µm) will be of importance. Furthermore, studies have shown that not the particle mass but particularly the particle number is of importance in the field of medicine. The particle number however is detected by no fine dust measuring device up to now.

With Fidas Palas provides a measuring device by which you can determine fine dust fractions timely resolved. Thus e. g. considerable fluctuations of the fine dust load can be attributed to certain traffic situations or weather conditions. Further, the measured particle number can also be determined by Fidas . In contrast to other measuring devices Fidas  has a high temporal resolution of 1 s and a user-friendly software with remote control.
