Analysing preservatives in recycled and treated wood for wood industry - Forestry & Wood
The wood that is used as a permanent foundation, for example in telegraph poles, structures for piers, bridges, etc, the wood needs to last for many years and wood preservatives are applied to give long term protection against termites and fungal decay.
Wood preservative manufacturers check the strength of the concentrated solutions they provide, and pressure treaters dilute these solutions and check the concentration before they pressure treat the wood. Samples of the treated wood are subsequently analysed as sawdust to ensure the preservative has penetrated well within the wood.
- Lab-X3500 and the X-Supreme8000 offer simple and precise analysis of treated wood, both wood preservative solutions and wood for recycling, using the analytical technique of Energy Dispersive X-ray fluorescence (EDXRF).
- The handheld XRF analyser X-MET7000 is the ideal tool for rapid screening and sorting of recycled treated wood.
