Reliable Shredding Technology for Wood shredding

The recycling of wood has a very important role in the reuse of the same for industrial purposes or use for the production of renewable energy. In both cases the quality of the grinding and the purity of the material is fundamental, which must be free of metals and other contaminants. The possibility to use shredders, grinders or granulators to deal with individual necessities allows Forrec to develop solutions that are suitable for all types of wood: •Production waste •Waferboards •Logs •Branches •Pallets •Oversized items made of wood (furniture, wardrobes, desks, etc.)

  • Dead tree and forest thinning disposal

Dead trees and wood from forest management can be chipped and dried for gasification. The electricity generated can offset electrical costs while the consumption of waste wood offsets disposal costs. Disposal by gasification also has far lower particulate emissions than controlled burns and a lower carbon footprint than decomposition, since methane emissions from anaerobic decomposition are avoided. Decomposing wood reverts all of its carbon content to CO2, but gasification sequesters a portion of it as charcoal waste, usable as biochar.

  • Energy and Fuels from Wood Wastes and Biomass

Wood wastes include woods from forestry, railways – sleepers, telecoms – telephone poles, timber manufacturing processes and the construction industry. Many of these types of wood tend to be contaminated with chemicals and other materials. This contamination can make the waste wood difficult to use in traditional biomass to energy processes and potentially hazardous to the environment. Our Gasplasma® energy from waste technology is able to transform efficiently the organic biomass into a pure, hydrogen-rich synthesis gas and safely destroys any harmful or hazardous inorganic chemicals. All inorganic materials are made inert and vitrified into an environmentally benign product called Plasmarok® which can be sold as an aggregate for construction, generating a revenue stream.

  • Analysing preservatives in recycled and treated wood for wood industry

Treated wood for disposal or recycling is tested for hazardous components to establish the relevant methods of wood disposal that can be applied. There is a range of preservative solutions used for pressure treated wood including Copper Azole, Pentachlorphenol (Penta) and Chromated Copper Arsenate (CCA), all of which can be identified by analysis. While untreated wood degrades within three to five years, the wood that is pressure treated with these kind of preservatives can last up to sixty years!

  • Industrial briquette presses for Wood briquetting

No matter where wood chips come from, whether it is hard or soft wood, chipboard, MDF, plywood, wood shavings, saw dust or swarf: volume can be reduced by up to 90 %. This is particularly attractive to the furniture industry, saw mills and cabinetmaking. With briquette presses from WEIMA, now valuable wood waste can be processed to compact briquettes and sold or used as an own heating source. In general, briquettes have a high calorific value, much higher than regular firewood and comparable to brown coal brought about by a longer and more even burning process. By the way, less ash is also produced.
