Sauereisen No. 600 flake Basolit Sulfur Capping Compound has been used for many years by concrete testing laboratories for testing concrete cylinders for comprehensive strength.

No. 600 is supplied in flake form and provides exceptionally easy and convenient handling and melting compared to ingots or briquettes. It is also an economical alternative to neoprene pads. The No. 600 compressive strength is consistent from one bag to the next which ensures high strength from cap to cap.
No. 600 is carefully plasticized to provide even load distribution during compression testing with no deformation. It sets rapidly to exhibit a minimum compressive strength of 8000 psi after cooling two hours, in accordance with requirements of ASTM C-617, Standard Method of Capping Cylindrical Concrete Specimens.
No. 600 has a wide pouring range: if accidentally overheated, it remains usable when cooled to the proper temperature (excess poured and solidified material can be remelted without loss of properties).
No. 600 maintains its full compressive strength and bond to concrete even when capped specimens are stored at 100% relative humidity prior to testing and does not degrade during storage or use.
