In the Kraft Process, commonly used in the pulp and paper industry to produce pulp, wood and chemicals are cooked in a digestor to remove the ligins and sugars, the waste from the digestor is know as “Black Liquor” and is typically burnt in the paper mills (Recovery Boilers) to generate electricity. The burning of the black liquor may produces high level of emissions.
Various byproducts containing hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan, dimethyl sulfide, dimethyl disulfide, and other volatile sulfur commonly known as total reduced sulfur (TRS) are the cause of the malodorous air emissions which sometimes result from disturbance situations such as when the mill is shut down for maintenance.
SO2 and NOx emissions may also be generated by the recovery boilers, lime kiln and the plants power station. .
Global warming and associated environmental trading schemes proposed in many countries is also of concern and may see Pulp & Paper manufacturers scrutinise their CO2 emission closely.
Ecotech is able to offer a complete monitoring solution for both emissions monitoring and ambient air quality monitoring fully integrated with our data evaluation and reporting software to meet the monitoring requirements of the pulp and paper industry. Ecotech has been involved in a wide variety of pulp & paper monitoring applications and is able to provide TRS analyzers as well as CO, SO2 and NOx instrumentation and systems.
Products and systems of interest include:
Ambient Air Quality Systems
Ambient air quality is of concern due to emissions of NOx, SO2, TRS and particulates. Regulatory authorities usually insist that these parameters are continuously measured.
TRS Air Quality Analyzers
Ambient and emissions monitoring of TRS in the Pulp & Paper industry is critical, Ecotech is able to offer a complete solution.
Odour Monitoring Systems
Ecotech is able to offer odour monitoring systems for TRS in and around the plant.
Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems
Ecotech is able to offer a complete monitoring solution for emissions monitoring to meet all compliance requirements. Ecotech is also able to offer CO2 monitoring systems that can be used to assist you in meeting legislative requirements for carbon trading schemes.
