The Natural Energy Solution uses a proprietary, patented process called Gas Phase Reduction (”GPR”). This is a highly effective, non-incineration method that converts all organic waste and destroys all hazardous organic waste products.
The Natural Energy Process is a proven technology for the destruction of hazardous organic chemicals and has been successfully applied to pesticides, dioxins, polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs), and Chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs). The technology achieves total destruction efficiencies (DEs), for Persistent Organic Pollutants (POPs) and other substances of concern that approach 100%. Extensive testing of the technology by accredited third parties, has demonstrated destruction efficiencies that exceed 99.9999% (six nines) for all POPs wastes tested. The GPR technology will render all contaminated hospital waste to an inert material:
- Waste/contaminated hypodermic needles; instruments; clothing; sponges; etc., will be completely rendered clean and the non-organic components can be recycled.
The hospital waste can either be processed through a GPR plant built specifically for this application, however, the most cost effective solution is to add this material to a GPR plant that is processing the local MSW and/or Biosolids waste. The residual material, which is comprised mostly of crystallized silica and traces of elemental carbon, is expected to be sold to the construction products industry.
- However, if not, the residual material can be placed in the landfill site without any adverse affects on the environment, as the material is inert.
