Industry Noise - Environmental

We are proud to develop the most powerful software for the calculation, assessment and presentation of outdoor noise. Our software solutions for the calculation and assessment, prediction and presentation of environmental noise exposure are powerful, yet easy to use. Whether your objective is to study the noise immission of an industrial plant, of a commercial center including a parking lot, of a new road or railway scheme or even of entire towns and urbanized areas: CadnaA is designed to handle all these tasks.

For any technical facility it is essential to keep the noise levels at the neighboring buildings within the regulatory limits. Use CadnaA to efficiently handle the noise emissions of any new-planned supermarket, any gas station or any storage facility and check whether you have to take measures to not exceed the noise limits at the next residential building.

If you work in the field of urban development, CadnaA makes it easy for you to evaluate the noise levels from surrounding technical facilities and traffic routes and helps you to ensure a healthy living environment in residential areas.

Many relevant experts working in the wind energy field are using CadnaA for the feasibility study of potential sites. The acoustical aspect is related to many other factors such as wind conditions or land use for the optimal location of the wind turbines.

CadnaA includes state of the art calculation standards widely used to simulate the noise propagation from wind turbines such as ISO 9613-2, Harmonoise or Nord2000, including meteorological effects.

Although the construction phase is limited in time, the noise emissions are quite often extremely stressfull for the neighbouring residents. Therefore a thorough planning of the construction and the accompanying noise emissions is essential. CadnaA allow our users to define the operating times of any machinery and therefore helps to identify the most critical conditions.

In addition, CadnaA helps to assess the noise in the immediate vicinity of the construction site and the additional acoustic stress caused further away by the construction-related trucks driving on public roads. This way, a sligthly altered construction schedule might prove to strongly reduce the noise levels.

CadnaA also allows the design of Public Address and General Alarm (P.A.G.A.) Systems in industrial sites or even dams, where certain noise levels must be assured. Such a project needs specific requirements:

First, verbal announcements and alarms transmitted via the loudspeakers shall have a sound pressure level above background noise for a defined value.
In addition, as specific loudspeakers are used, the sound pressure level at the listener should not be greater than a defined level above the background noise to avoid hearing problems to the listeners.
All the above-mentioned requirements are easily addressed by consultants and security companies by using CadnaA, showing all possible situations such as the normal operation or worst-case scenarios.

The analysis of the emission caused by industrial facilities like chemical plants, refineries or other production areas is the first and most important step before calculating the noise effect to the environment. There are many situations where neither sound power level data nor measurements are availble. CadnaA implements an expert technique to derive the sound power level from significant parameters which influence the noise emission.

This technique also allows to model complex arrangements of sound sources*, parts of which can be linked to each other. Therefore, this technique cannot only be used to model the sound radiation from an individual sound source (e.g. electric motor), but also to model the sound transmission through a chain of sources (e.g. ventilator with two ducts connected).

That is being widely used by industrial companies who want to design new industrial systems and apply new measures to reduce the emission even before the installation.
