Biogas to Elecricity

by Kirloskar Integrated Technologies Limited     based in Kothrud, INDIA

The range of supply of biogas to electricity solutions is from 10 kW to 1 MW. All the components of the solution are provided with matching capacities. It comprises the biogas digester system of the desired capacity, gas storage, biogas cleaning system to get rid of H2S from the gas, and the biogas genset. In the digester system, one may have a pre-digester or a feed mixing chamber or both. On the post-digester side, liquid from the slurry is separated and is recycled for feed preparation. It reduces the overall fresh water demand of the scheme. The digester itself may be temperature controlled and the input for the same could be given from heat recovery of the genset or from a solar heating system or from any other heat source as the case may be.

Sensor for Biogas

by Edinburgh Instruments Ltd     based in Livingston, UNITED KINGDOM

Anaerobic Digestion plants produce various gas components from a source material (or feedstock) that can be composed either solely or as a mixture of slurries, purpose-grown crops, food and organic waste material. The composition of the gas produced varies depending upon the feedstock and the Anaerobic digestion process itself. As a consequence, it is normal to measure various components of the resultant gas produced to evaluate the efficiency of the Anaerobic Digestion process. Furthermore, due to the flammable nature of Methane (CH4), and the risk of asphyxiation, most plants feature ambient air monitoring to protect personnel from any unplanned accumulation of leaked gas. CH4 is the gas component fuel, which is the intended end product of the anaerobic digestion process. In biogas plants, the concentration of CH4 in a working plant varies between 50%-75%, which is well above the Upper Explosive Limit (UEL).

Energy from biomass production for the waste to energy industry

by Pieralisi Group     based in Jesi, ITALY

Pieralisi technology is widely applied in plants that produce energy from Manure (biogas) and alternative energy production from biomass, and, in this industry.

Solutions for the waste sector

by DMT Global Environmental Solutions BV     based in Joure (NL), NETHERLANDS

There is an increasing global awareness that the waste problem needs to be solved in a sustainable way. New waste separation techniques are being implemented, and R&D programs focus on much more than waste-technology alone. The importance of biomass is recognized as a potential high-energy source for electricity and biogas. DMT’s ambitious approach is based on the principles of circular economy and cradle to cradle: waste products are in fact very valuable. We constantly investigate new ways in which to approach ‘waste’ from a different perspective, how to best use or reuse certain products, and where to create new markets and demands.

Reliable Shredding Technology for Organic Waste

by UNTHA Shredding Technology     based in Kuchl, AUSTRIA

Our shredders process biological and biogenic waste to generate an optimal substrate for further utilisation in your biogas plant or in your disposal business. The application area ranges from green or garden waste to food waste and expired goods including packaging to slaughterhouse waste. Non-homogeneous or organic waste in pieces including packaging must be shredded to prepare it optimally for fermentation. Our low-speed S-series shredders are ideally suited for this application. These two-shaft shredders ensure reliable processing and guarantee a pumpable fermentation substrate. Thanks to the special equipment, efficient cutting unit and sturdy machine construction, these shredders are very reliable and have a long service life!

Waste to Energy

by Babcock & Wilcox MEGTEC     based in De Pere, WISCONSIN (USA)

We can treat the air streams from waste management plants, MBT (Mechanical Biological Treatment) reception and composting areas, Waste Water Treatment Plants (WWTP), Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) Plants, gasification of waste, syngas, torrefaction, gas engines and biogas upgrading. In waste management plants and WWTP, we remove the odors that may be causing a nuisance to neighbors, with bioreactors using Biomass to degrade odorous components and where odors are particularly intractable or VOC emissions higher, thermal oxidizers to meet prescribed emission limits and odor levels. In RDF Plants, Syngas, Gasification, Gas Engine and Biogas Upgrading applications, we employ thermal oxidizers, particulate removal and DeNOX systems, for the control of VOC, NOx, CO and particulates to prescribed emission limits.

Shredding and crushing systems for Food waste and handling of garbage and food waste

by MERCODOR GmbH Sondermaschinenbau KG     based in Frankfurt am Main, GERMANY

Organic waste can become a problem anywhere where the disposal of waste occurs over a longer period. This challenge arises for example in the shipping industry. With Mercodor waste food shredders valuable space is saved and food protected from contamination. The processed food leftovers serve as the raw material for biodiesel production or are used for the production of green energy in the form of electricity and heat from biogas plants.

Wastewater Treatment for the Dairy Industry

by HydroThane STP BV     based in KC `s Hertogenbosch, NETHERLANDS

Dairies` production activities result to significant quantities of wastewater and waste by-products with high organic content that requires reduction before discharge.

Cheese whey and lactose are some of the main concentrated streams that together with the waters from the cleaning procedures can be excellent substrates for the HydroThane UASB and ECSB processes, resulting to large biogas production rates and high purification efficiency with extremely low energy requirements.

The fats and the solids removed during the pre-treatment stage can be mixed with expired products that return in the factories and produce biogas while being stabilized in a HydroThane SWD (Solid Waste Digester).
