combustion catalyst Applications

  • Catalyst Monitoring Services

Catalyst monitoring services use periodic performance testing and lab analysis to track the condition of newly installed catalyst. The goal is to extend the life of the catalyst and it begins by establishing a relationship between operating hours and the catalyst’s condition and performance. Testing and analytical services reveal any decline in performance, direct catalyst maintenance services such as chemical washing, and provide a basis for estimating catalyst life. The scope of catalyst monitoring is scaled to the size of the installation – from a single reciprocating engine with one catalyst element, all the way up to a plant with multiple combustion turbines each having hundreds of catalyst elements. • Power Generation

Combustion turbines A gas turbine, also called a combustion turbine, is a type of internal combustion engine. It has an upstream rotating compressor coupled to a downstream turbine, and a combustion chamber in-between. The basic operation of the gas turbine is similar to that of the steam power plant except that air is used instead of water. The turbine shaft energy is used to drive the compressor and other devices such as an electric generator that may be coupled to the shaft. The energy that is not used for shaft work comes out in the exhaust gases, so these have either a high temperature or a high velocity. A catalyst is often used to treat these exhaust gases to comply with emissions regulations. EmeraChem has installed OEM and after-market catalyst in over 240 applications
