The manufacture of cement combines a variety of raw ingredients such as limestone, clay or shale. These raw materials are extracted from the quarry crushed to a very fine powder and then blended in the correct proportions. The resulting raw mix is fed into a cement kiln which heats them to extremely high temperatures of about 1400 C to 1500 C.
