    Petrochemical

Durable regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) technology is at the core of our systems. MEGTEC designs and engineers system solutions to meet your special requirements, ranging from energy-efficient treatment of dilute volatile organic compound (VOC) flows, such as tank ventilation, to demanding applications utilizing VOC energy for secondary heat recovery; for example, in the form of process streams. This can include pre- and tail gas treatment systems, and could handle hazardous components such as sulphurous or chlorinated hydrocarbons. For special requirements, we can offer FTO (flameless thermal oxidation) and we can design systems operating safely on oxygen contents below 5%.

Low level measurement of VOCs and Terpenes close to the sea and the Landes Forest

It has been established that organic aerosol (OA) makes up for a major fraction of fine particulate matter in all region of the atmosphere. This fraction accounts approximately for half of the total PM2.5 dry mass.1,2 Primary OA is directly emitted in the troposphere from anthropological and natural sources whereas secondary OA (SOA) is formed in-situ in the atmosphere from the oxidation of biogenic or anthropogenic gas-phase precursors and subsequent partitioning of the less volatile products into the particle phase. The current number is that, on a global scale, SOA would represent around 60% of the overall OA.3 However, recent global mass-balance estimations for the removal of volatile organic compounds (VOC) suggest that this number could under-predicts SOA production.4 Recent field measurements in urban locations are also in support of a larger share, indicating that SOA is the dominant fraction of OA, with amounts considerably 20 greater than models predictions.

Recycling equipments for shredder light fraction (SLF) recycling

Dismantled ELVs (End of Life Vehicles) are sold to shredder operators and are reduced to fist-size pieces by large rotating hammer mills. The Shredder Light Fraction (SLF) is removed from the stream by suction, the intensity of which determines the amount and composition of the SLF. SLF consists essentially of plastics/rubber (~60%), Glass/sand i.e. mineral substances (~15%), Textiles/leather/wood (~10%), Paint dust/rust (~10%) and Residual metals (~5%). Other names for SLF are ASR (Automobile Shredder Residue) and Auto fluff or just fluff.

    Waste recovery for nuclear wastes

Nuclear waste is divided into low, medium, and high‐level waste by the amount of radiological character it contains. Low and Intermediate Level Nuclear waste is the radioactive waste resulting from nuclear facility consumables, clothing, laboratory equipment etc. This waste can adversely affect human health and the environment and therefore must be handled appropriately. Typically, the waste is kept underwater for 3-5 years until the radiation decays to levels that can be shielded by concrete in large storage casks, where it can be held for thousands of years. A challenge for the nuclear industry is the cost associated with conditioning, packaging and storage of these heterogeneous wastes. Therefore, a solution that can decrease the volume of nuclear waste, and reduce the amount of storage required, is considered a commercially advantageous option.

Chemical Water Treatment for membrane treatments

Membrane units, in our days are widely used in the water pre-treatment preparation and are becoming one of the most important technologies in the production of high pure water. Nevertheless they often face problems with scaling and fouling and are therefore limited by frequent maintenance, downtime and high costs. Our treatment programs are specifically designed for membrane units like reverse osmosis, ultra- and nanofiltration and enable to remove or preventive control scaling and fouling. Our main target is to run these plants under environmentally friendly and beneficial economic conditions. Special attention is given to an efficient utilization of energy as well as saving precious water. Kurita develops an efficient and effective treatment concept achieving an optimal economic operation and a maximum operational reliability of a plant.

Recycling equipments for electronic waste recycling (WEEE)

The content of WEEE (electrical and electronic waste) gives recyclers various initiatives for recycling. It contains hazardous substances, such as lead, mercury or certain flame retardants, as well as precious metals like gold and silver. In 2012 approx. 64,900.000 ton electronic goods where produced and 49.000.000 ton electrical and electronic waste (WEEE) was generated. As the amount of sold electronic goods rise, the amount of WEEE rises. It is vital that this waste is taken care of properly.

Industrial air pollution control for the electronics and electrical industry

The world`s appetite for electronic devices - from simple household appliances to sophisticated computers - has led to rapid growth of both these industries. Typically for the electronics industry, there are large waste gas streams (up to 400,000 Nm³/h) with relatively low concentrations of different solvents. The waste gases mainly occur in coating, cleaning and etching processes during the production of semiconductors, CDs/DVDs, Blue-ray discs, DVTs, TFT-LCD and plasma displays. The electronics industry has important standards to meet regarding environmental protection. CTP complies with these requirements: From zero emission goals, to installations on the roofs of production facilities.
