    When it comes to odor management, simply cleaning the tank isn’t enough to remove the odors. Prior to cleaning, storage tanks are vented to the atmosphere in order to reduce the internal gas content to a level below its lower explosion limit (LEL). This permits safe worker access. During venting, odors escape into the atmosphere creating a nuisance to nearby residents, businesses, and employees. Furthermore, storage tank cleaning results in production downtime that reduces plant profitability.

    Hazardous waste treatment solutions for metal industry

    Sludge by-products from the metalworking industry have a high potential for recycling. Prolonged grinding processes can generate large amounts of highly valuable, alloy-rich sludge; consisting of metal powder and cooling lubricants. Inside our VacuDry system, the thermal separation of the liquids (hydrocarbons, eventually water) and solids (metal powder) takes place in an oxygen free atmosphere. This absence of oxygen ultimately eliminates material degradation by oxidation, and self-ignition or explosion risks. Operation under a low vacuum ensures the possibility to recover the cooling lubricants for later reuse. After the thermal treatment, for appropriate handling in the melting process, the metal powder is pressed into briquettes.     High quality gas sensor solutions for mining

    Fast, accurate and reliable measurement of CH4. The extraction of coal releases methane gas, which can mix with the air in a mine to form a hazard due to its flammability. Ventilation with fresh air from the surface is used to dilute the methane and reduce the risk of explosion. Monitoring of the methane content of the stale air exiting the mine allows the amount of ventilation to be controlled. Although our sensors are not ATEX approved for use in potentially explosive atmospheres they are suitable for monitoring air containing methane concentrations below the lower explosive limit. Our OEM products can be built into equipment which is approved for use in the monitoring of mine exhaust gas and similar applications.

    Many industries are involved in coating products with solvent-borne materials and then employing ovens or dryers to remove the solvents from the finished product. The key hazard is an explosion from the build up of solvent vapors in the oven or dryer atmosphere. This buildup could occur by a malfunction in the production process such as: a sudden or improper amount of coating, a change in ventilation controls or excessive speed. In any of these cases, the concentration of flammable vapor has an opportunity to rise above safe levels, creating a potentially explosive mixture of vapor in air.

  • Gas detection analyzers for pulp & paper mills

    Flammable non-condensible gases (NCG’s) are byproducts of the wood pulping process. Health and pollution regulations prohibit the release of these gases into the atmosphere. They are usually eliminated by passing them through an incinerator or by using them as fuel in the burner of a boiler or kiln. The incinerator, boiler or kiln however can be damaged by NCG’s which have built up explosive levels. Pulp mills require the use of our PrevEx Flammability Analyzers to monitor the NCG stream and detect and divert these dangerous concentrations before they can cause damage and shut down the mill. The PrevEx analyzers accurately measure the total concentration of flammable gases present in the NCG sample. Their high sampling speed dramatically improves response time—an important factor in pulp mill applications.
