Air sampling & monitoring systems for fire & police service

Fire service and law enforcement workers frequently face unknown chemical and biological hazards. Internal emergency response personnel must assess the situation before committing a rescue or control team. Today, the Threat of biological agents is real. Accurate situation assessment is of paramount importance when responding to an emergency or control situation. HI-Q’s emergency response air sampling kits have offered Fire and Police emergency response teams a way of recognizing, determining and identifying the presence of harmful Biological & Nuclear Threats.

Fire and explosion protection solutions for the wood and paper industry

We provide explosion protection for wood processing factories where wood waste and dust pose a hazard. Various wood processing technologies show that flammable wood waste or dust accumulates in these facilities. In terms of evaluating the risk of explosion, finely sedimented dust is hazardous and in the event that this finely sedimented dust suspends and is connected to an ignition source, and explosion will occur.

Fire detection solutions for the oil rigs

The worse event that can befall on off shore oil rig is fire. The Model 125 is a smoke monitor designed to operate in hazardous areas, especially in oil rig air conditioning and ventilation ducts. The electronics are contained in an explosion proof container rated as EEX de II B T5; the sensing head uses fibre optic cables to transmit the near infra-red light to a reflector where it is returned to another fibre optic cable. The light level is then monitored by a photo-electric cell. The Model 125 gives an output in opacity which is transmitted to the rig safety systems.

Tunnel solutions for the visibility monitor

The TunnelTech 101 Visibility Monitor (VIS), is an essential part of any road or rail tunnel safety system. It monitors the Visibility within the tunnel and ensures that the tunnel ventilation system provides sufficient clean air for drivers to clearly see the road ahead. The TunnelTech 102 Cold smoke monitor (CSM detects smoke from a fire to rapidly warn the operator of the hazard. Secondly, used in combination with other TunnelTech 101 VIS monitors, the operator can quickly detect the locus of the fire if it is also equipped with the optional PT 101 temperature sensor to accurately measure ambient air temperature in a range of -15 to 1050C.

  • Solutions for the emergency spill clean-up

BioSolve Pinkwater eliminates fire and explosion hazard when sprayed directly onto a fuel/oil spill. Aggressive agitation with a course stream reduces volatilization and causes LEL readings to immediately decline, possibly registering “0.” Application of Pinkwater also facilitates roadway cleanup and elimination of hazardous oil sheen.

  • Gas detection analyzers for semiconductor industry

Semiconductor manufacturing facilities employ a number of hazardous gases in their production processes. Whenever these gases are stored, distributed or used in manufacturing processes, there exists the potential for a hazardous condition. The primary hazards associated with these gases include fire, explosion, and contamination resulting in product loss or unscheduled preventative maintenance. These gases must be continuously monitored to ensure the health and safety of employees, to protect property, as well as to maintain regulatory compliance. Continuous gas monitoring in semiconductor facilities is a requirement of local and state regulations.

  • Gas detection analyzers for wastewater treatment industry

Regulations prohibit facilities from discharging flammable or explosive wastes from their processes into the wastewater collection system. These wastes are not only a fire and explosion hazard but they can also effect the efficient and effective operation of the treatment facility. PrevEx Flammability analyzers are used to continuously monitor the waste stream for flammable gases and vapors. Their unique design and operating technology make them the ideal analyzers for the harsh conditions found in the sewer environment.

  • Remote temperature monitoring

To abide local regulations, and ensure efficient and effective composting, the temperatures of the windrows must be measured and logged constantly. With accurate temperature measurements, you can determine the optimum time to turn the windrows for quicker compost production. Time consuming and error prone manual data collection is eliminated using a SureCross FlexPower Node equipped with three thermocouples to automatically monitor the temperature at three depths within a compost windrow. Temperature sensor readings are wirelessly transmitted back to the Gateway or host system for data collection, analysis, and logging. Because the temperatures are measured and recorded continuously, the composting rows can be turned as soon as the temperature reaches the ideal point. Continuously monitoring the temperature will also provide an early warning to potential fire hazards by notifying personnel when temperatures exceed recommended ranges, thereby preserving the product.

  • Combustible Aluminium, Titanium and Magnesium Dust Collection

The consequences of an industrial dust explosion or fire are unthinkable - worker injury, loss of life, property damage, business interruption, and irreversible environmental harm. Few companies realize how many diverse and common industrial applications produce combustible particulates, or where in their facilities this catastrophic threat is settling. What is a combustible dust? “A combustible particulate solid that presents a fire or deflagration hazard when suspended in air or other oxidizing medium over a range of concentrations, regardless of particle size or shape” – NFPA 654? High Risk Applications Metalwork (aluminum, magnesium, or titanium and others) – cutting, grinding, or finishing Ceramics – raw product handling and enamel spray Chemicals – material handling, crushing, grinding, roasters, kilns, and coolers Coal mining – material handling, de-dusting, drying, air cleaning Food (flour, sugar, and others) – mixing, grinding, blending, bagging, and packaging Foundry – sand handling, tumbling mills, abrasive cleaning, and shakeout Pharmaceutical – mixing, grinding, blending, bagging, and packaging Rubber – mixing, grinding, talc dusting, de-dusting, and batch-out rolls Woodwork – woodworking machines, sanding, waste conveying?
