Air sampling & monitoring systems for fire & police service

Fire service and law enforcement workers frequently face unknown chemical and biological hazards. Internal emergency response personnel must assess the situation before committing a rescue or control team. Today, the Threat of biological agents is real.  Accurate situation assessment is of paramount importance when responding to an emergency or control situation. HI-Q’s emergency response air sampling kits have offered Fire and Police emergency response teams a way of recognizing, determining and identifying the presence of harmful Biological & Nuclear Threats.

  • Fire Weather Networks , Wildfire Supression

Every year, 35 million hectares —or about 1% of the world’s forests— are lost to wildfire. Recently in North America the area burnt by wildfires has increased sharply, while regions like Southeast Asia and South America have seen a rise in the number of land-clearing fires and other escaped wildfires in equatorial forests. The extraordinary costs of fire suppression activities are matched only by the damages to property and ecosystems these fire wreak—in South America, this loss is estimated at $1.6 billion annually. In the US, damages from major fires were found to account for as much as 95% of total costs from fire. Advances have been made through the use of basic weather data from meteorological stations. In years past, fire agencies used this data to develop fire danger rating systems that helped them predict, prevent and suppress fires. How can fire management agencies improve their ability to predict, prevent and fight wildfires? By installing dedicated fire weather network.

  • Moisture Monitoring for Breathing Air & High Pressure Air Systems

A reliable supply of breathing air is critical for applications in the military, medical and fire fighting sectors. The presence of excess moisture in breathing air can lead to freezing in the pressure regulator and ice blocking the orifice, causing an interruption to the supply of air to the user. Such freezing effects have caused the loss of life and equipment in submarines and aircraft.

    Oil spill recovery

As the exploration for oil and gas enters areas of greater environmental vulnerability, the need for proven, reliable and robust equipment is doubly important. DESMI continues to answer this challenge with existing as well as specially developed oil spill recovery systems to operate in the most difficult and harsh environments known to man. This equipment is known as the ARCTIC range. This is a special tool kit of systems to enable you to successfully contain, recover and store hydrocarbons in the Arctic environment. In addition, we offer a range of ‘fail safe’ fire booms for use in controlled burning of oil in ice.

  • Alternative Fuel Production for Energy / Substitute Fuel Production for Energy

Being driven by new legislation, the production of substitute fuel/alternative fuel will be gain momentum in the next few years, as well as the expected increase of recycling rate in municipalities. This means a lot of waste streams can be turned into alternative fuel for the coal fired power plant, cement and lime industry, biomass power plant, or other industrial boiler systems that still burning fossil fuels.

  • Innovative pump technology for ship industry

In shipbuilding, high standards of reliability as well as increasingly the energy efficiency of the systems are important prerequisites for the economical-technical overall evaluation in the technical procurement process. Ships as self-sufficient systems are particularly dependent on the reliable functioning of all installed components, including the pumps. They fulfil many tasks on board which are vital for the operation of the vessel: Delivery of ballast water and wastewater, boiler supply, condensate recovery, drive engine cooling and of course the reliable supply of fire fighting systems.

  • Gas detection analyzers for wastewater treatment industry

Regulations prohibit facilities from discharging flammable or explosive wastes from their processes into the wastewater collection system. These wastes are not only a fire and explosion hazard but they can also effect the efficient and effective operation of the treatment facility. PrevEx Flammability analyzers are used to continuously monitor the waste stream for flammable gases and vapors. Their unique design and operating technology make them the ideal analyzers for the harsh conditions found in the sewer environment.

  • Pulsair`s industrial mixers for biodiesel fuel industry

Pulsair Systems manufactures the most efficient and effective storage tank mixing process for blending and agitating biodiesel fuel. The efficient Pulsair mixing process is well suited for the high viscosity and heavy fluid characteristic of biodiesel. Pulsair offers a complete line of off the shelf biodiesel fuel mixers and agitators for mixing in a 55-gallon drum or larger 250 - 1 million+ gallon tanks for biodiesel fuel storage or production. Pulsair biodiesel fuel mixers are explosion proof and safe for biodiesel mixing. Biodiesel is a flammable product and the fire risks are reduced when using the Pulsair mixing process because our mixers do not require electricity at the mixing site. This improves the overall safety of the biodiesel production process and biodiesel fuel storage tank mixing and agitation.

  • Smoke generator device for PPV & impulse ventilation testing

When water-based artificial smoke is introduced into a rapidly moving air stream, the particles that make up the artificial smoke evaporate much more quickly than they do in a static environment. So if you are looking to produce an artificial smoke that better represents the smoke created by a real fire, we would always recommend the ViCount smoke generator, the smoke from which is virtually unaffected by fast moving air streams. Used world wide PPV training centre`s and to test impulse ventilation systems. A Home Office report into PPV (Positive pressure Ventilation) by the Head of the Fire Experimental Unit, Fire Research & Development concluded that the concept behind the technique of PPV was relatively easy to understand and the equipment simple to operate, but stressed the need for extensive training.

  • Remote temperature monitoring

To abide local regulations, and ensure efficient and effective composting, the temperatures of the windrows must be measured and logged constantly. With accurate temperature measurements, you can determine the optimum time to turn the windrows for quicker compost production. Time consuming and error prone manual data collection is eliminated using a SureCross FlexPower Node equipped with three thermocouples to automatically monitor the temperature at three depths within a compost windrow. Temperature sensor readings are wirelessly transmitted back to the Gateway or host system for data collection, analysis, and logging. Because the temperatures are measured and recorded continuously, the composting rows can be turned as soon as the temperature reaches the ideal point. Continuously monitoring the temperature will also provide an early warning to potential fire hazards by notifying personnel when temperatures exceed recommended ranges, thereby preserving the product.
