flare emissions Applications

  • Flaring Solutions for the CDM + Kyoto Protocol

ABUTEC specializes in providing advanced technology for the CDM initiative and for carbon credit projects in the landfill and waste water industries. The Kyoto Protocol is an international agreement linked to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, which sets internationally binding emission reduction targets. There are three mechanisms within the protocol, one being the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM). A CDM project must provide emission reductions that are additional to what would otherwise have occurred.

  • Flaring Solutions for the Mine Gas Industry

ABUTEC manufactures and services low emission, low NOx mine gas incinerators (i.e. enclosed flares) for the mine gas industry. We specialize in offering compact solutions and price competitive equipment, whether you are upgrading due to new regulations, evaluating a gas-to-energy project or looking for a green technology to take advantage of tax credits. We specifically size and design for your unique mine gas needs with flares ranging in size from 10 SCFM up to 6,000 SCFM. All ABUTEC flares and solutions meet or exceed EPA regulations and are BACT-approved. ABUTEC installed the first mine gas incinerator in the U.S. and is the only company to provide proven carbon credit solutions.

  • Flaring Solutions for the Landfill Industry - Leachate Evaporation

Increased concern for the environment has led to new opportunities for landfills to better manage their waste gas. ABUTEC works with the landfill industry to ensure that leachate evaporation is handled in the most efficient way possible. ABUTEC’s high temperature enclosed combustors meet state and federal regulations for burning landfill waste gas at a minimum of 99% destruction and removal efficiency (DRE), meaning almost 100 percent of the vapor to be destroyed is converted to CO and water. These combustors are of high quality, flexibility, low emissions, CSA-approved and able to burn very low calorific gas. When combined with a heat exchanger, the unit can efficiently evaporate the leachate eliminating the need for expensive trucking or disposal.

  • Flaring Solutions for the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry - Tank Batteries/Storage Tanks

The EPA mandates that all upstream oil and gas operators install factory-certified combustors that meet new Quad O compliance standards, or perform field testing on the flare system post-installation. ABUTEC offers the only compliance-ready combustors available to the market, making expensive testing no longer necessary for our customers. The use of enclosed combustors is an integral piece of the extraction process and affords companies the opportunity to operate in extreme conditions while still maintaining low emissions and following Quad O regulations.

  • Flaring Solutions for the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry - Oil & Gas Produced Water

Because of the huge increase in U.S. natural gas production, there is elevated concern over the production of water that occurs in natural gas and oil fields. These concerns have led to additional state and federal regulations for low emission combustion technology and how companies will deal with produced water. ABUTEC’s high temperature enclosed combustors meet state and federal regulations for burning waste gas at a minimum of 99% destruction and removal efficiency (DRE), meaning almost 100 percent of the vapor to be destroyed is converted to CO2 and water. These combustors are of high quality, flexibility, low emissions, CSA-approved and able to burn very low calorific gas. Additionally, when combined with a heat exchanger, the unit can evaporate the excess produced water eliminating the need for expensive trucking or disposal.

  • Gas detection analyzers for pollution control

Government and environmental groups are forcing industries with medium to high VOC exhausts to reduce emissions by as much as 98%. Incineration using pollution control devices such as oxidizers and flare stacks is one way to bring the exhaust emissions in line with the regulations. Capturing and reusing solvent in a solvent recovery system is another way.
