Flood defense systems for Protective & reinforced berms

We can create reinforced berms which are commonly used for a variety of reasons. Common applications include: Reinforcement or creation of waterways. Reinforcement or creation of coastal berms. Flood defense perimeter (vegetated). Raising existing levee height in a flood event.

Flood defense systems for Erosion control

Because of the soil filled nature of our barriers and the ability to achieve a variety of vertical or pyramid stacked configurations, we have a number of erosion control applications we are commonly used for. Applications include: Soil stabilization, Retaining walls (can be self-anchored with 90 degree tie-ins), Riverbank protection, Toe protection, Wetland restoration, Beach protection.

  • Water Monitoring and Flow Measurement Systems for Hydrology

In recent years acoustic flow measurement and flow metering has established itself as the standard method for measurement in many hydrological stations but is also used as the basis for various applications, for example for flood protection and flood forecasting. Ultrasonic flow meters are also used in hydro-engineering constructions. With this almost contact free technology data can be recorded continuously and it provides 24/7 monitoring. Such flow monitoring is particularly important in waterways used for shipping, transportation, irrigation, drainage and for cooling water extraction of power plants. A further important use of transit-time open channel flow meters is the transportation of water used for the supply of drinking water. Here the focus lies on detecting the flow rate of water loss at an early stage as it is sometimes difficult to detect small leakages.

    Monitoring of raw water intake

    The Situation:

Hydrocarbons in municipal water supplies,  including fresh water and desalination systems, are commonly limited to less than 1 part per million. Surface water from rivers, lakes, or the sea with marine traffic, nearby pipelines, or regular flooding can be contaminated by hydrocarbons. Freshwater treatment systems can be damaged by hydrocarbons or allow them to pass through undetected. Desalination systems using reverse osmosis (RO) membranes can be irreversibly damaged by the presence of hydrocarbons. Continuous monitoring of water source intakes can prevent system contamination and subsequent damage.  Accurate, low maintenance monitoring systems such as the TD-4100 XD and XDC have been protecting water intakes worldwide for over 20 years.

  • Erosion control solutions for the waterway & shoreline stabilization

Stream banks and shorelines can present far-reaching erosion and sediment control challenges. Variable flow conditions and shoreline shear stresses must be considered as well as the effects of flooding, runoff and topography. The need to protect water quality plus aquatic and wildlife habitats can be critical. No matter what erosion control problems and other issues are part of your project, you can be sure we have a solution that works. Whether your shoreline or stream bank project is simple or demanding, and whether it requires temporary and/or permanent erosion control solutions, you can rely on North American Green`s RollMax Rolled Erosion Control Systems and RevetMax Flexible Revetment Systems for durable protection, stabilization and reinforcement.
