    Rapid Determination of Pesticides in Spinach

    Highly pigmented foods, such as spinach, require cleanup prior to analysis for pesticide residues. A dual-layer SPE tube containing graphitized carbon and aminopropyl on silica (NH2) is often used because; Carbon removes pigments and sterols and NH2 removes fatty acids, polar pigments, organic acids, and sugars. Removing these matrix materials reduces interferences that can lead to ion suppression in LC-MS, inlet contamination in GC-MS, and column contamination for both techniques. Our Supel Sphere Carbon/NH2 SPE tube uses spherical materials for both the carbon and NH2 layers, providing fast, more consistent flows compared to tubes containing granular material.     Measurement of acetaldehyde, methanol, & benzene in CO2 applications for gas manufacturers & food & beverage industry

    The BevAlert Model 8900 provides direct measurement of Acetaldehyde, Methanol, and Benzene (AMB) in Carbon Dioxide. The instrument is utilized by Specialty Gas Manufacturers and the Food and Beverage Industry to monitor trace impurities in CO2 used in carbonated beverages. The BevAlert Model 8900 employs a photoionization detector (PID). The AMB in the gas sample are physically separated using proprietary GC columns. A dual-column configuration with timed backflush to vent is used to strip off moisture and heavier gases. At sample injection, a fixed volume of sample is carried through the pre-cut column. The backflush is timed so that primarily the AMB and other similar compounds continue on to the analytical column. Contaminants are then backflushed to vent. Acetaldehyde, Methanol, and Benzene are separated from potentially interfering components on the analytical column and elute to the detector for analysis.

    The US FDA and international regulatory agencies have set contamination levels for aflatoxins in animal feedstuffs.
