Gas analysis & monitoring system for gas generation

The gas generators for calibration based on the use of “Method of Permeation Tubes.”. The permeation tubes are sealed capsules containing a small amount of the component that is in contact with a permeable membrane stable. The permeation through the membrane produces a vapor of the compound of the component of small quantity, very stable as a stream in time. This permeate stream by mixing with a dilution gas controlled and precise (for example nitrogen) creates a mixture in track at the desired concentration. The flow of the permeate is measured metrically through severe weight loss of the tube thus ensuring a standard high precision.

Analysis of VOC compounds in water by Purge & Trap or dynamic headspace

Context & Challenges Volatile organic compounds (VOC) can be dissolved in water. Sometimes water is polluted and to study contamination of VOC in finished drinking water, VOC must be measured. Chromatotec® Solutions Chromatotec® has developed a specific system for the measurement of VOC in water: a Purge & Trap system, the airmoPURGE. The analyzer is coupled with a degasing system allowing the extraction of dissolved gases. The complete system is based on: - 502.2 method from US EPA – “Volatile organic compounds in water by purge and trap capillary column gas chromatography with photoionization and electrolytic conductivity detectors in series – Revision 2.1”. - 524.2 method from US EPA – “Measurement of purgeable organic compounds in water by capillary column gas chromatography/mass spectrometry – Revision 4.0”.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for semiconductor manufacturing

In the semiconductor manufacturing industry, various perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) are used. The emissions of the PFC compounds into the ambient air are reduced by scrubbing of the exhaust gases from the process. In this process, the Gasmet™ FTIR Gas Analyzers can be used to measure the emissions into the atmosphere and also monitor the efficiency of the scrubbers. Typically monitored PFCs in the exhaust gas include carbon tetrafluoride CF4, trifluoromethane CHF3, and hexafluoroethane C2F6.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for anesthetic gases

The anesthetic gases and vapors which leak into the indoor atmosphere during medical procedures are considered waste anesthetic gases (WAGs). The exposure is of relevance to thousands of professionals in hospitals, operating theaters, patient recovery rooms, dental offices, and veterinary clinics around the world, who may be continually exposed to the waste anesthetic gases during their workday. Typical gases of concern include nitrous oxide N2O and several halogenated compounds in vapor form, such as sevoflurane, isoflurane, enflurane, halothane, desflurane, and methoxyflurane. Short-term exposure to these gases may lead to several symptoms, such as dizziness, headaches, fatigue, nausea. Long-term exposure to some of the anesthetic agents may result in sterility, birth defects, cancer, and liver and kidney disease.

Gas analysis & monitoring system for leak searching

Many chemical compounds and gas are invisible to the naked eye. But there are many companies that make intensive use both during and after the production process. The manner and frequency with which companies are required to monitor, document, report and rectify any escape of volatile gaseous compounds are established by regulations extremely rigid. The technology most widely used is the “Imaging Camera” or “sniffer technology.” “When we look for gas leaks, check all systems in places that may or may not have been previously identified. These controls are carried out regularly and are very important after a shutdown.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for nickel refining

The mining industry uses chemicals as ‘flotation’ agents in the recovery of sulphide minerals containing metallic elements (e.g., copper, nickel, silver, gold) from ore slurries. Sodium ethyl xanthate (SEX) is one of most common flotation agents, and it decomposes to form ethanol, carbon disulfide CS2, and Carbonyl Sulfide COS. These harmful gaseous compounds must be monitored from the indoor air at the enriching plant.

    Odor control for refining/petroleum

You refine the fuel, we’ll remove the odors. Oil refineries and petrochemical plants may generate large volumes of odor from the processing and refining of different fuels. Sulfides, mercaptans, and hydrocarbon compounds are all closely related to the oil industry. The odors generated from these industrial compounds are of a high nuisance value and generally create concern among local air boards and the public. Ecosorb odor removal products may be used in a variety of areas around the refinery including water treatment facilities, sludge ponds, sulfur recovery units, and API separators. To remove odors during tank cleaning and maintenance operations, portable dispersion systems can be used in the immediate work area to control malodors. Ecosorb products can be directly injected into flues and stacks and may be used as a substitute scrubbing solution in some applications.

    Petrochemical

Durable regenerative thermal oxidizer (RTO) technology is at the core of our systems. MEGTEC designs and engineers system solutions to meet your special requirements, ranging from energy-efficient treatment of dilute volatile organic compound (VOC) flows, such as tank ventilation, to demanding applications utilizing VOC energy for secondary heat recovery; for example, in the form of process streams. This can include pre- and tail gas treatment systems, and could handle hazardous components such as sulphurous or chlorinated hydrocarbons. For special requirements, we can offer FTO (flameless thermal oxidation) and we can design systems operating safely on oxygen contents below 5%.
