groundwater directive Applications

  • Become compliant with the EU Water Framework Directive

The WFD is the most substantial piece of water legislation ever produced by the European Commission, and will provide the major driver for achieving sustainable management of water in the UK and other EU Member States for many years to come. It requires that all inland and coastal waters within defined river basin districts must reach at least good status by 2015 and defines how this should be achieved through the establishment of environmental objectives and ecological targets for surface waters. The result will be a healthy water environment achieved by taking due account of environmental, economic and social considerations.

  • Continuous Monitoring of Groundwater

The Sorbisense method allows for measuring the average concentration of substances in groundwater over a period of up to 1 month with only one sample.

The system provides methods for measurements in both unsaturated and saturated zone and provides access to dynamic boundaries of contaminants and more realistic risk assessments. For example, through direct measurements of seepage from contaminants and by continuous measurement of emissions from cropland.

  • Decanter centrifuge for drilling mud solids control

Decanter centrifuge is used as the 4th phase solids control equipment after shaker, desander and desilter. The centrifuge suck the mud from the compartment receiving the discharge from the desilters and mud cleaners, and the returned stream is directed to the next compartment downstream. The use of decanter centrifuge with the drilling mud is (1) removal fine solids from unweighted fluids (2) selection separation of colloidal and ultra-fine solids from weighted fluids to improve their flow properties.

  • Horizontal Remediation Well Systems

Horizontal wells are a proven and effective remedial technology for site cleanup. For environmental applications, horizontal wells offer several advantages in comparison to traditional vertical wells. The first horizontal wells were installed using a mid-sized directional drill rig in 1993 by Directional Technologies, Inc. The three (3) horizontal Soil Vapor Extraction wells installed at John F. Kennedy International Airport was the beginning of a new industry. Directional Technologies, Inc. founders transferred their experience from the oil fields to the environmental industry. This has resulted in the installation of over 1,000 horizontal wells for site remediation worldwide. Horizontal Remediation Wells are a time-tested and proven technology that can provide solutions for problems previously considered unfeasible. Measurement of naphthalene in ambient air to monitor workplace exposure limits & at remediation & Superfund sites

The Series 8900 Naphthalene Analyzer provides direct measurement of Naphthalene in ambient air. This instrument is utilized in industrial plants to monitor workplace exposure limits and at remediation and Superfund sites. The Series 8900 Naphthalene Analyzer employs a photoionization detector (PID) as the sensing element. A dual column configuration with timed backflush to vent is used to strip off moisture and heavier hydrocarbons. A pre-cut column is used in series with the analytical column. At sample injection a fixed volume of sample is carried to the pre-cut column. Backflush is timed so that only the Naphthalene and other similar components are eluted to the analytical column. Contaminants on the pre-cut column are backflushed to vent. Naphthalene is separated from potentially interfering components on the analytical column and elute to the detector for analysis.
