Industrial Weighing - Hazardous Area (Ex) Weighing

Explosive areas need special consideration, but performance should not be compromised. That’s why METTLER TOLEDO has built the most extensive range of hazardous area (Ex) products available from a range of compact, bench, floor, custom, load cells and vehicle scales up to 2000 tons. Many of our products comply with the new European ATEX directive for Group 2 and 3 devices, Factory Mutual, Canadian Standards as well as many country specific regulations.

Hazardous waste treatment solutions for metal industry

Sludge by-products from the metalworking industry have a high potential for recycling. Prolonged grinding processes can generate large amounts of highly valuable, alloy-rich sludge; consisting of metal powder and cooling lubricants. Inside our VacuDry system, the thermal separation of the liquids (hydrocarbons, eventually water) and solids (metal powder) takes place in an oxygen free atmosphere. This absence of oxygen ultimately eliminates material degradation by oxidation, and self-ignition or explosion risks. Operation under a low vacuum ensures the possibility to recover the cooling lubricants for later reuse. After the thermal treatment, for appropriate handling in the melting process, the metal powder is pressed into briquettes. With the econ VacuDry technology, 100% recycling of all ingredients is possible.

Hazardous waste treatment solutions for oil and gas industry

There are a wide amount of applications for our VacuDry® process within the oil and gas industry. A large variety of wastes and by-products that are generated in the oil & gas production chain can be treated effectively and sustainably. In past decades, numerous thermal desorption processes have been implemented worldwide, using a variety of heating chamber designs to separate hydrocarbons from the mineral solids. Such standard TDUs work under atmospheric pressure which can lead to safety risks, high energy consumption, larger emissions and limited flexibility regarding altering feed materials. Due to its unique design, the complications outlined above are avoided throughout the VacuDry® process. When it comes to treating standard oily wastes, mercury-containing waste streams, NORM, and especially for the recovery of highly valuable drilling fluids from drill cuttings; our vacuum thermal desorption process (i.e. vacuum distillation) is economically unbeatable.

Hazardous waste treatment solutions for chlorine industry

The mercury cell process is a formerly widely-used production technique for the production of chlorine and caustic soda. The liquid metal, mercury, acts as cathode (negative pole) in this process. In the past, the loss of mercury during the process (to air, soil and water) led to serious health and environmental problems. Therefore, most European chlorine producers have decided to phase out the mercury cell process by 2020. Nevertheless, even today, almost 6000 tons of mercury is used per year for chlorine production in Europe alone. As a result of this, yearly waste outputs contain around 1200 tons of mercury, which are stored on-site or sent off for disposal.

Air purification & filtration solutions for the mold, lead & asbestos industry

Containment and safety issues are a critical consideration when working on any mold remediation or abatement projects. Improperly contained, the dust and bio-contaminants released can, be very harmful for both on-site workers and occupants in neighboring areas. Exactly how you approach your containment and capture solutions will depend on the individual site’s risk assessment report.  If you need help identifying solutions to the issues raised in the report, feel free to contact our customer service department and we can review your options together.  In most cases, however, there are four common considerations that will be relevant: Meeting Containment and Air Change Requirements. Monitoring of Containment Pressure. Sterilization of Filtered Air. Removal of Odors, Mold Spores, VOC’s and other Airborne Bio-Contaminates.

Industrial air pollution control for the chemical and petrochemical industry

CTP systems can be found in every leading production company: thanks to the experience and the expertise developed in partnership with our customers for processes with inconsistent waste gas volumes; varying concentrations of organic components; gases contaminated with aerosols. CTP has installed systems for waste gas streams ranging from 1,000 to 200,000 Nm³/h. CTP supplies this industry with mainly catalytic systems, regenerative thermal oxidisers (RTO) and adsorbers. As the flue gases in this industry are often explosive mixtures, CTP systems have to be completed with special safety conduits and filters to help reduce hazards during continued operation.

    Waste recovery for construction industry

Construction waste consists of unwanted material produced directly or incidentally by the construction industry. This includes materials that may contain lead, asbestos or other hazardous materials. There is increasing pressure on the construction industry to dispose of this hazardous material in an environmentally responsible manner. Tetronics can help alleviate this pressure by providing waste recovery plants to deal with all types of hazardous wastes generated from a construction projects lifespan: from land remediation through to the treatment of APCs from incineration as well as the treatment of asbestos.

Waste Management Solutions for Metal Manufacturing Industry

There are several challenges faced by the metal manufacturing industry. Firstly, there is a drive to recover as much metal credit as possible before disposal of by-products as wastes. Secondly, there is a requirement to minimise waste generation or alternatively minimise the costs of managing the disposal of any hazardous waste material generated during the manufacturing process. Finally, keeping the company competitive by generating value or by reducing costs in the manufacturing process. Any solutions that can overcome these challenges must be considered. Tetronics can assist with a range of metal manufacturing waste challenges, including:
