landfill leachate processing Applications

  • Landfill Leachate Treatment

Effluents from waste (leachate) are highly polluted and must be treated efficiently before they can be discharged into a municipal sewage plant or a local watercourse. Conventional treatment technologies do not suffice. Chemical processes are not economic due to the high pH buffer capacity of the leachate. Hardness and chlorides in the leachate are a problem for many plant components. Besides, process knowhow and operating experience are indispensable for an effective elimination of the harmful ammonia nitrogen. Certain processes also produce residues such as concentrates, which must be removed from the landfill body. This disposal is very expensive. WEHRLE is a reliable and experienced plant constructor for those applications. The first leachate treatment plants were built in 1991 and have been in constant operation ever since. This is not only proof of excellent technology but also for sustainable efficiency with stable, predictable, low operation costs.

  • Landfill Piping Solutions

Landfills are active environments. Through natural processes of rainfall, condensation, and decomposition, landfills themselves produce a liquid waste stream, called leachate. Often the leachate contains hazardous materials, so properly managing a landfill requires handling the waste. ISCO offers products and services to help manage leachate including HDPE landfill pipe, perforated and slotted pipe as well as custom fabricated fittings.

    Evaporation technology for waste industry

The leachate produced by the waste in the landfill is an extremely pollutant effluent that requires high effective treatment processes to comply with the very strict limits for discharging operations. EVALED evaporators are a technological solution which allow to exploit the biogas cogeneration for the full or partial power supply of the plant within the limits of the environmental regulations and to reduce the relevant costs for thermal energy and leachate disposal.
