Aerosol and particle technology for operational safety industries

During the production, the conveyance and the filling of solid particles in the form of powders, bulk materials, granulates, pellets and many other shapes, dust is generated as a rule. This dust formation can lead to an impairment of the operational safety and the reliability of the production process, e. g. by means of inhalable dust fractions. The workplace hygiene can also be endangered, e. g. through dust accumulations.

    Abatement and Remediation

Containment and safety issues are a critical consideration when working on any mold, asbestos, or lead remediation/abatement projects. Improperly contained, the dust and bio-contaminants released can, be very harmful for both on-site workers and occupants in neighboring areas. Exactly how you approach your containment and capture solutions will depend on the individual site’s risk assessment report. If you need help identifying solutions to the issues raised in the report, feel free to contact our customer service department and we can review your options together. In most cases, however, there are four common considerations that will be relevant: -Meeting Containment and Air Change Requirements -Monitoring of Containment Pressure -Sterilization of Filtered Air -Removal of Odors, Mold Spores, VOC’s and other Airborne Bio-Contaminates

  • Tunnel Structural Health Monitoring Systems

Structural Health Monitoring allows rapid assessment of a tunnel’s state of health and such approach is becoming recognized as an appropriate mean to increase the safety and optimize operational and maintenance activities of tunnels. Data resulting from the monitoring program is used to improve the operation, the maintenance, the repair and the replacement of the structure based on objective results. Detection of ongoing damages can be used to discriminate deviations from design performance. Malfunctioning tunnels can often have serious consequences. The most severe are failures involving human victims. Even when there is no loss of life, populations suffer if the structure is partially or completely out of service. Learning how a tunnel performs in real conditions will help design better structures for the future. This can lead to cheaper, safer and more durable structures with increased reliability, performance and safety.

  • Moisture Monitoring for Breathing Air & High Pressure Air Systems

A reliable supply of breathing air is critical for applications in the military, medical and fire fighting sectors. The presence of excess moisture in breathing air can lead to freezing in the pressure regulator and ice blocking the orifice, causing an interruption to the supply of air to the user. Such freezing effects have caused the loss of life and equipment in submarines and aircraft.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for anesthetic gases

The anesthetic gases and vapors which leak into the indoor atmosphere during medical procedures are considered waste anesthetic gases (WAGs). The exposure is of relevance to thousands of professionals in hospitals, operating theaters, patient recovery rooms, dental offices, and veterinary clinics around the world, who may be continually exposed to the waste anesthetic gases during their workday. Typical gases of concern include nitrous oxide N2O and several halogenated compounds in vapor form, such as sevoflurane, isoflurane, enflurane, halothane, desflurane, and methoxyflurane. Short-term exposure to these gases may lead to several symptoms, such as dizziness, headaches, fatigue, nausea. Long-term exposure to some of the anesthetic agents may result in sterility, birth defects, cancer, and liver and kidney disease.

    Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

Accurate control of critical indoor environmental parameters is not only essential for the well-being and comfort of building occupants, but also has a major impact on energy efficiency. A multitude of parameters can affect indoor air quality (IAQ) from gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and volatile organic compounds to particulates, humidity and bacteria such as legionella. CO2 is one of the greatest variables affecting indoor environmental quality since it is produced by people occupying the building. CO2 production is a function of the number, size and activity levels of the people present in the building. Local concentrations can therefore vary dramatically – for example when a meeting room is occupied, or while workers are on lunch or coffee breaks. Excess CO2 levels can lead to tiredness and a lack of concentration and can contribute to the symptoms of Sick Building Syndrome such as headaches, eye, nose and throat irritation, itchy skin and nausea.

Waste water treatment plants Personnel Safety & H2S filter management

Context & Challenges Globally, the wastewater treatment is the first public health issue. Urban development leads to urbanization near waste water treatment plant and extension of sewerage network. These aspects induce to an augmentation of sulfur compounds (H2S, mercaptans and sulfides) which are very corrosive, odorant and toxic. To monitor this compounds online CHROMATOTEC® offers high meteorological solutions. As a result of the confinement of the waste water stations, toxic components such as H2S and Methylmercaptan increased. Safety of employees on such working sites has therefore become of major problem. To fight this hazardous pollution, air filtering systems have been installed. For the station managers, personal safety coupled with the need for constant air quality control and filter change has been a heavy task.

Hazardous waste treatment solutions for oil and gas industry

There are a wide amount of applications for our VacuDry® process within the oil and gas industry. A large variety of wastes and by-products that are generated in the oil & gas production chain can be treated effectively and sustainably. In past decades, numerous thermal desorption processes have been implemented worldwide, using a variety of heating chamber designs to separate hydrocarbons from the mineral solids. Such standard TDUs work under atmospheric pressure which can lead to safety risks, high energy consumption, larger emissions and limited flexibility regarding altering feed materials. Due to its unique design, the complications outlined above are avoided throughout the VacuDry® process. When it comes to treating standard oily wastes, mercury-containing waste streams, NORM, and especially for the recovery of highly valuable drilling fluids from drill cuttings; our vacuum thermal desorption process (i.e. vacuum distillation) is economically unbeatable.
