Industrial shredders system for metal shredding sector

Metal swarf is valuable and heavy, and often voluminous; Three reasons to separate them into their components. Transportation becomes more efficient with reduced volume where it can then be reprocessed and transformed into cash. With WEIMA technology it is possible to shred all kinds of light metals to include aluminum or magnesium, also copper and brass. Irrespective of profile; tin, foil, long swarf or punching waste.

  • Systems for the scrap metal industry

From small recycling yards to huge regional processors, every scrap yard has a different mix of materials, volumes and demand cycles. And your equipment collection should be precisely prescribed to match. Having the right stable of balers, shears, wire strippers, choppers, shredders and other assets is crucial to running a perfect processor. Ensuring you can scale up through growth and expansion is even more critical to your future success. OBC has maintained many long-term relationships with scrap metal processors, and can leverage this experience to help you craft the best configuration of equipment to serve your specific needs.

Metal Sorting - Non Ferrous Metals Sorting

Modern sensor-based sorting systems are superior to traditional manual or sink-float processes for reasons including that they achieve material purities of up to 99.9% in refining the sorted fractions. TOMRA Sorting’s efficient sorting and recycling technology provides benefits for shredder machinery and heavy media operators, plus aluminum resmelters. Shredder operators can create individual fractions out of mixed product which yield much higher market values. Heavy media operators can produce and sell pure final products themselves, meaning their investment in technology is recouped quickly. After wet processing, the aluminum product still contains impurities and its concentration can be improved further using TITECH technology and sold for a considerably higher profit. For smelters, the TITECH x-tract [XRT] removes impurities in the secondary resource to such a high degree of precision that less primary resource is needed to obtain useful aluminum.

Metal Sorting - End of Life Vehicles Scrap Sorting

Using modern TOMRA sorting technology you can generate clean non-ferrous metal fractions in your daily shredder operation. The processing of valuable scrap metal gains more and more importance worldwide. The aim is to generate clean, mono-fraction products from this very complex stream of End of Life Vehicles scrap metal material using suitable separation procedures. And that is worthwhile; End of Life Vehicles scrap processing does not only preserve natural resources of raw material, but it is also considerably cheaper. Compared to the aluminium production from primary raw material, using secondary material from End of Life Vehicles saves around 90% of the energy demand.

Recycling equipments for shredding scrap metals

Scrap metal includes metals that can be reclaimed for use in manufacturing, processed for re-melting or prepared for disposal in landfills. These metals include industrial scrap metal and remainders, electronic scrap, aluminum and precious metals. Shredders prepare the metals for bailing and bundling, saving storage space, transportation and disposal costs. Quad shaft shredders reduce and separate electronic scrap and prototypes in one process, allowing for the recovery of precious metals. Dual or quad shaft shredders break bales or briquettes of pre-processed metal scrap for final size reduction and separation for reclamation or re-melting, allowing for recovery and reuse of the metals. Integrated systems include grinders and hammer mills for producing small size or powdered materials for reuse.

    Scrap metal shredding

Shredding of metals for volume reduction can simplify material handling, minimize storage space and reduce transportation and disposal costs. SSI has built shredders to process light scrap in a metal recycling yard, or materials generated by a manufacturer, such as aluminum extrusion from a door or window manufacturer. SSI shredders have also been used to prepare metals to feed into high-speed hammermills.

Recycling equipments for ferrous scrap metal shredding & recycling

Ferrous scrap metal includes metals that can be reclaimed for use through traditional ferrous scrap recovery systems. These metals include a wide variety of light ferrous scrap such as sheet steel, 55 gallon drums, white goods, and other forms of loose tin. Heavier ferrous scrap can be processed through the Saturn hammermill line of shredders which also produce a more consistent, higher density shred. Shredders prepare the metals for further separation or directly to end ferrous scrap consumers. Additional Granutech machinery such as the MAC Magnum Logger, or MAC Big MAC auto crusher can compact and densify larger ferrous items reducing transportation costs.

Recycling equipments for shredder light fraction (SLF) recycling

Dismantled ELVs (End of Life Vehicles) are sold to shredder operators and are reduced to fist-size pieces by large rotating hammer mills. The Shredder Light Fraction (SLF) is removed from the stream by suction, the intensity of which determines the amount and composition of the SLF. SLF consists essentially of plastics/rubber (~60%), Glass/sand i.e. mineral substances (~15%), Textiles/leather/wood (~10%), Paint dust/rust (~10%) and Residual metals (~5%). Other names for SLF are ASR (Automobile Shredder Residue) and Auto fluff or just fluff.

Shredding of metals with Mercodor shredding systems

The shredding of metals is a very difficult process because, due to their very different characteristics, the metals, such as wire, steel pack binding, stamping waste, titanium sheets, zinc sprues, zinc casting waste, zinc oxide or magnetic bands, have very different requirements to the shredding machines. The Mercodor shredders are best suitable for the shredding of metals and metal composites of any kind and composition.

  • Energy and Fuels from Auto Shredder Residue (ASR)

End of life vehicle processing recovers valuable recyclates and removes for recovery all pollutants from automobiles. After this process, the remaining vehicle is shredded for further treatment into smaller parts called Auto Shredder Residue (ASR) sometimes referred to as Auto Shredder Fluff or Car Fluff. ASR contains a mixture of all the different materials that make up the automobile, including metals, plastics, rubbers and textiles. This mixture of materials makes ASR a difficult waste to handle and potentially harmful to the environment. The Gasplasma® energy from waste process breaks down the ASR: Organic materials are transformed into a hydrogen-rich synthesis gas which is used to generate power / Inorganic materials are vitrified to become Plasmarok® /Any remaining ferrous and non-ferrous metals are recovered

Reliable Shredding Technology for Pulper Ropes

In addition to a homogenised granulate of your residual products, our customized shredding systems guarantee an optimal pre-product for further recycling or thermal utilisation in your plants. Pulper ropes or the reject are secondary raw materials that are created when waste paper is recycled. The pulper ropes must not be landfilled due to their material composition and must therefore be recycled accordingly – in most cases through shredding and subsequent separation of metals, glass and stones, etc. Our rotary shears or 2-shaft shredders together with our 4-shaft technology are very well suited for this application case. The advantage of the 4-shaft machines lies in the fact that the pre- and re-shredding occurs in one process step.

  • SRF

SRF Manufacture is an alternative fuel produced by shredding and dehydrating solid waste, typically consisting of combustible components of solid waste, including paper, card, wood, textiles and plastic. It can be produced to a range of specifications to meet customer requirements. Solid Recovered Fuel Manufacture The materials used to produce Solid Recovered Fuel pass through a series of shredders, screens, air classifiers/density separators and magnets. Inert materials, recyclable plastics and metals are extracted from the shredded material, leaving a mix of mainly non-recyclable paper, card, wood, textiles and plastic. Although a small proportion of these materials can be recycled the quality of these materials is compromised once they enter the residual waste stream and recovering energy from these materials is currently the best environmental option.
