  • Electrical Based Tomography Systems for Batch mixing

Batch mixing generally refers to mixing processes in vessels and ITS tomography instrumentation provides a tool to understand, optimise and control mixing. Tomography sensors take data from between 200 to 2,400 measurement points in a single snapshot, thus providing a sound basis to monitor changes in concentration of different materials and so quantify mixing. Sensors can be retrofitted through using probe based instruments, scanning the z-axis (which usually presents the key challenge to effective mixing). Alternatively, an array of up to 8 circular planes, each with 16 electrodes can be used to provide a more complete picture of the mixing process.

Crushing of mixed construction waste with Mercodor crushing systems

The crushing of construction waste serves for the recycling of important raw materials. With the Mercodor crushing machines, the crushing of edge strips, concrete fragments, bath material, but also the crushing of sealing material, carpet edge strips or styrofoam and wallpaper rest rolls is no problem. Since, generally, the raw materials become more and more scarce, it becomes increasingly important to recycle the raw materials as much as possible when handling these resources.

    Mixed Municipal Solid Waste Sorting

Traditional (manual) or semi-automated techniques, however, are only able to recover low levels of separate materials from mixed municipal waste streams and mean considerable content going to landfill. In contrast, TOMRA Sorting’s fully automated, state-of-the-art, sensor-based municipal sorting systems convert complex and varied - even dirty - municipal solid waste streams into high quality, separated, marketable output. The systems also make manual sorting unnecessary, thus reducing labor costs and material loss, while increasing efficiency. Operationally, through using detection techniques such as near infrared (NIR), x-ray transmission (XRT), color line cameras and metal sensors in combination.

  • Gas/Liquid and liquid/liquid mixing for air stripping applications

The growing demand placed on the world’s water, in combination with more stringent water quality regulations, have placed unprecedented demands to provide safe, reliable and aesthetically pleasing drinking water. Air stripping is an effective way of removing volatile organic chemicals (VOCs) from contaminated water and is commonly used for this application. Air stripping systems mix air with a water supply with the goal to generate the largest possible air-water contact area so that VOCs and dissolved gases, such as radon and hydrogen sulfide, will move from the water to the air. In addition to removing VOCs, air stripping is primarily used for removing oxidizing contaminants such as iron and manganese, improving taste, or removing odor. Air stripping is an EPA Best Available Technology (BAT) for some VOCs including benzene, toluene, xylene, tri/tetrachloroethylene, trihalomethanes, vinyl chloride and many others.

Crushing of salts with Mercodor crushing systems

The crushing of salts such as, for example, hardness salts, salt dispensers, but also rock salt, is a great challenge for the crushing machine from various points of view. On the one hand, the salts are very hard, but already in the presence of a very small amount of a liquid they dissolve and mix with the liquid. The Mercodor crushers are best suitable for crushing of salts of any kind such as, for example, crushing of rock salts, but also for crushing of salt dispensers and hardness salts.

  • Systems for the municipalities industry

Independently managing your recycling facility can reward your community with jobs and revenue. But the challenges of processing and handling the variety of material can be difficult. Which materials should you accept and how will you process them? Do you want a single, large-capacity two-ram or a mix of smaller, material exclusive balers? Have you outgrown a vertical baler solution? OBC can help you analyze your operations and find the best equipment configuration for your municipality.

Patented Waste Water Recovery System for Marine Refinishing Industry

Due to recent expansion of EPA regulations regarding discharge of water containing contaminants, owners of boats and marinas have had to heighten their awareness regarding waste water containment. If caught discharging any contaminated water overboard, even an ounce or less of light oil mixed with bilge water will produce a visible sheen on the ground or on the water. This is identified by the EPA as a reportable discharge, of which large fines are possible including clean-up costs, and even criminal prosecution when flagrant violations are detected. The GEOMAT Waste Water containment system can be customized to fit any size marine application such as refinishing, marine detailing, and waste disposal.

Gas analysis & monitoring system for gas generation

The gas generators for calibration based on the use of “Method of Permeation Tubes.”. The permeation tubes are sealed capsules containing a small amount of the component that is in contact with a permeable membrane stable. The permeation through the membrane produces a vapor of the compound of the component of small quantity, very stable as a stream in time. This permeate stream by mixing with a dilution gas controlled and precise (for example nitrogen) creates a mixture in track at the desired concentration. The flow of the permeate is measured metrically through severe weight loss of the tube thus ensuring a standard high precision.
