    Odor control for tank cleaning

When it comes to odor management, simply cleaning the tank isn’t enough to remove the odors. Prior to cleaning, storage tanks are vented to the atmosphere in order to reduce the internal gas content to a level below its lower explosion limit (LEL). This permits safe worker access. During venting, odors escape into the atmosphere creating a nuisance to nearby residents, businesses, and employees. Furthermore, storage tank cleaning results in production downtime that reduces plant profitability.

  • Drill pipe cleaning

Problem: When scale and hardened mud build up in oil well drill pipe, plugged drill heads are the usual result. This reduces efficiency and increases downtime. Traditional rattle-and-brush systems can leave some build-up behind and require a rinse operation to flush debris and drilling fluids.

Industrial Solution for gasification & synthetic gas

Gasification and synthetic gas production from various waste products are becoming increasingly important energy recovery technologies. Often, the synthetic gas contains various hazardous contaminants including H2S, HCl and other acids, heavy metals, and tars. The gas requires cleaning before it is introduced in the engine or boiler. Most of these processes generate significant concentration of tars. The tars can vary from very low molecular weight to large and complex chains.

  • Natural gas gathering system for inlet gas separation

Natural gas gathering systems deliver large volumes of gas via pipleline to the central inlet of the gas processing facility. Removal of solid contaminants and free liquids present in the inlet gas is critical to the downstream process. Iron oxides, iron sulfides, dirt and other deformable particles can flow into the processing system. Effective removal of these contaminants is needed to prevent fouling. Pentair Porous Media technologies will help with a clean, natural gas feed, reducing upsets and associated downtime and increase productivity, lowering capital costs with fewer change-outs.

    Odor control for refining/petroleum

You refine the fuel, we’ll remove the odors. Oil refineries and petrochemical plants may generate large volumes of odor from the processing and refining of different fuels. Sulfides, mercaptans, and hydrocarbon compounds are all closely related to the oil industry. The odors generated from these industrial compounds are of a high nuisance value and generally create concern among local air boards and the public. Ecosorb odor removal products may be used in a variety of areas around the refinery including water treatment facilities, sludge ponds, sulfur recovery units, and API separators. To remove odors during tank cleaning and maintenance operations, portable dispersion systems can be used in the immediate work area to control malodors. Ecosorb products can be directly injected into flues and stacks and may be used as a substitute scrubbing solution in some applications.

  • Waste gas treatment for the TFT industry

Manufacturing TFT/LCD displays requires waste gas treatment as well. Processes that produce large scale Thinfilm Transistors (TFT) on glass substrates, for instance, use Chemical Vapour Deposition – CVD – to separate the thin films onto the material. The process requires cleaning the process chamber periodically and usually employs etching with NF3. Etching of the separated thin films typically utilises CF4, SF6 and chlorinated gases, which release large amounts of waste gas mixtures.

Agitation and mixing solutions for flue gas desulfurization

FGD (Flue Gas Desulfurization) involves the treatment of flue gas from coal fired power plants.  The main goal is to remove sulfur, particulates, and other chemicals such as mercury from the flue gas prior to environmental release.  Governmental regulations by the EPA put limits on the amount of impurities which can be released into the air.   The use of mixers to clean and scrub the flue gas is utilized to help power companies meet permitted limits on the release of controlled substances.

  • Salt Water Disposal - Operational improvements and savings

Adding Wilsa ElectroWaveTM technology to existing separation equipment at Salt Water Disposal Wells (SWD) or Salt Water Injection Wells (SWIW) has a profound impact on the amount of oil can be recovered without using chemicals. Additionally there is a host of operational improvements and savings that result from the Wilsa Effect. Oil free solids settle out faster for cleaner, clearer brine for injection. Cleaner brine means less injection pressure and fewer acid jobs in the formation. Pump packings last longer by reducing solids and abrasive elements from the brine. More targeted solids settling allows for less tank clean outs. All of this adds up to significant operational savings.

High quality gas sensor solutions for total organic carbon (TOC)

Minimising costs through measurement of CO2 concentration. Both water suppliers and water users need to know the quality of the water they are supplying, using and disposing of so as to minimise their costs. One measure of water quality is the organic carbon content (TOC). TOC is measured by oxidising the organic carbon to produce CO2 which is then measured and the value converted into a TOC measurement. Edinburgh Sensors supply sensors to measure the CO2 concentration produced by oxidising the organic carbon in a water sample, allowing the TOC to be calculated. This TOC value determines one measure of how clean the water sample is.

  • Integrated real-time gas analysis solution for electronic specialty gases industry

The company’s entry into the electronic specialty gas market originated in 1994-95 as a consequence of the semiconductor industry’s demand for increasingly higher purity gases from the major gas producers. The issue was then and remains today to be primarily moisture impurity levels in the cleaning, etching, and treatment gases used in wafer production. In that earlier period when common wafer sizes were 6” and 12”, the semi industry required moisture concentrations to be 250 to 500 ppb or better; with each year after that the industry tightened its requirements such that today the moisture specifications are 1 to 5 ppb or better.
