process water membrane Applications

  • Membrane Filtration for Wastewater Treatment

The essential challenges of today are to ensure cost effective treatment and recycling processes for water and wastewater. Membrane technology solves this task by being an innovative and trendsetting technology. Today membranes are successfully used for the treatment of municipal and industrial wastewater as well as for the production of drinking and process water from surface water. Membrane technology and membrane bioreactors (MBR) are especially important in arid zones for the recovery of clean water for reuse from wastewater. This enables the sustainable management of water resources ensuring availability and effective utilization.

  • Membrane Filtration for Chemical Industry

Membrane technology has made major progress in recent years and is nowadays the method of choice for many processes in the chemical industry, wherever substances are to be separated efficiently and gently. A prime example of this is dia-filtration, in which solutes and particles with higher molecular weights are retained while solutes with lower molecular weights are "washed" out of the process fluid.

  • Chlorine Dioxide Water Treatment for Reverse Osmosis Membranes Industry

Biological fouling of reverse osmosis is a common problem leading to reduced efficiency and reduced membrane life. CleanOxide Liquid 75 is pure Chlorine dioxide which is a highly effective biocide ideal for use in reverse osmosis systems. CleanOxide Chlorine Dioxide has all the important regulatory approvals in Australia and overseas to be used in water treatment and food processing. Many strategies have been developed in an effort to control biofouling of Reverse Osmosis membranes including the use of sodium hypochlorite, non-oxidising biocides, heat and pH swings.

  • Membrane filtration systems for reduction of BOD/COD

Reverse Osmosis Polishers can concentrate BOD/COD from evaporator condensate and RO permeate streams to reduce waste water. Polished water can also be re-used in plant for boiler water make-up and CIP systems. In Dairy Industry applications, `polishing` of these process water streams aids in the production of Class I water for re-use from dairy products as defined and regulated under Food & Drug Administration rules. Water produced with this technique is also very soft, generally resulting in lower cleaning chemical consumption.

    Reverse Osmosis Water Testing

Osmosis is the phenomenon of lower dissolved solids in water passing through a semi-permeable membrane into higher dissolved solids water until a near equilibrium is reached. Reverse Osmosis (RO) is a membrane process of purification which removes most of the the total dissolved solids (TDS) in water by reversing the natural process of osmosis. Pressure is applied to a TDS-concentrated solution against a semi-permeable membrane, causing pure water to diffuse through the membrane. RO has become an important process for a wide variety of applications including: medical, laboratory, desalination, industrial wastewater, Deionized (Dl) pretreatment, and drinking water.

ADVANCEES - Advanced water treatment equipments for desalination

Areas that have no or limited surface water or groundwater may choose to desalinate seawater or brackish water to obtain drinking water. Reverse osmosis is the most common method of desalination, Sea Water Reverse Osmosis (SWRO) is a reverse osmosis desalination membrane process that has been commercially used since the early 1970s. Because no heating or phase changes are needed, energy requirements are low in comparison to other processes of desalination, though still much higher than other forms of water supply (including reverse osmosis treatment of wastewater).

Water treatment solutions for the desalination

Our Filters are Highly Resistant to Corrosivity. Reverse osmosis is one of the most widely applied desalination technologies. Previous to the process of separtion of water from salt and minerals, seawater or brackish wter requires the elimination of large size particles in order to assure a good performance of reverse osmosis membranes. Our sand filters facilitate the removal of these suspended solids to avoid membrane fouling. In addition, after reverse osmosis process, water has to be remineralized through calcite filters to increase the alcalinity and hardness of desalted water and reduce its corrosivity to fit for human consumption, domestic use, industrial or irrigation.

  • Liquid Rock - Prevening Scale Formation from Ground Water Hardness

Groundwater is in contact with soil and rock minerals. Significant amounts of the minerals are dissolved in the groundwater. Elevated water hardness is the result of the water interaction and partial dissolution of carbonate minerals. Scale formation is a crystallisation process. Crystals are a highly organised arrangement of molecules. The determining circumstances for a successful crystallisation event include concentration, temperature, pressure and chemical environment. Suitable conditions for the formation of a crystal require numerous factors to coincide. CALSTAT RO-30 provides crystallisation interference at a molecular level :  Excellent results are achieved at low trace quantities of product. Calstat RO-30 dosed at trace levels of 4-10 kg per million litres  Corrosion on steel surfaces is reduced or eliminated  For drinking water production with RO (reverse osmosis) systems, membrane fouling is reduced.
