Oil in Water Analysis for Flowback or Produced Water

The amount of water used in and produced by hydraulic fracturing of shale gas wells is in the millions of gallons per well. Whether the water is going to be taken off site for disposal or reused for re-injection, the flowback or produced water needs pretreatment to remove any residual oil from the water. Waiting for remote lab results can take several days to a week. InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzers allow for oil in water testing at the well site in less than 10 minutes. The sampling requires a few simple steps that can be performed by non-technical personnel. The water is mixed with the extraction solvent, shaken, and then presented to the analyze for measurement. The same InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzer can be used for TPH in soil if a spill or pond leak occurs to determine the contaminated area. The analyzer features: -Results in under 15 minutes -Detect levels as low as 10 ppm -Portable, rugged, lightweight, easy-to-use -Battery operable -Ideal for field or lab use

  • Aquatech Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR)

In a Steamflood Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) process, steam is injected in the well, lowering the viscosity of heavy oil suitable for extraction through the production wells. The fluid from the wells is a mixture of oil, water and gas and goes through a separation system to separate the three. The separated produced water is heavily contaminated with dissolved solids and hydrocarbons. Aquatech’s Steamflood Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) Technology offers the integrated solutions for the treatment EOR produced water for boilers, generating a purified product that can be reused for the production and injection of steam. Our turnkey approach to treatment includes coordinating the logistics of wastewater removal off-site and any sludge disposal.

  • Zero Liquid Discharge wastewater solution

Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) describes a process that completely eliminates liquid discharge from a system. The goal of any well-designed ZLD system is to minimize the volume of wastewater that requires treatment, process wastewater in an economically feasible manner, while also producing a clean stream suitable for reuse elsewhere in the facility. Interest in ZLD technology has grown in the industrial manufacturing sector over the past decade. Companies may begin to explore ZLD because of ever tightening wastewater disposal regulations, company mandated green initiatives, public perception of industrial impact on the environment, or concern over the quality and quantity of the water supply.

  • Odour and corrosion treatment solutions for wastewater treatment industry

Odour emissions form a serious problem for many people that live near or work in places which produce odours. These places can be factories, wastewater treatment plants, farms like pig and poultry breeders, solid waste disposal facilities and landfills. As some odourous compounds can be harmful for the health of humans other are simply unpleasant and can cause health problems when exposed to on a continuous basis. In either case something needs to be done about it.

    Drill Cuttings

Common drilling procedures for oil and gas, used widely around the world, produce a consistently increasing amount drill cuttings containing oil. In some cases, drill cuttings even contain other hazardous components such as mercury or NORM (Natural occurring Radioactive Material), requiring special attention. Treatment of drill cuttings is therefore beneficial from both an environmental and an economic standpoint, allowing valuable drilling oil to be recovered, and ensuring environmentally sound disposal of the drill cuttings. Our VacuDry® technology is designed to safely separate oil, water and mercury from the solids (including NORM), allowing reuse of the oil and safe disposal of the water, mercury, solids and NORM. Mining & minerals solutions for coal preparation industry

WesTech designs and manufactures thickeners for the coal prep industry for product concentration, tailings disposal and CCD circuit washing, including HiFlo Thickeners and Deep Bed Paste Thickeners. Paste thickening is a proven technology increasing the profitability of mining operations. In the coal preparation plant there are two applications for paste thickening: concentrating fine coal and producing paste from coal tailings for increased water recovery and elimination of tailings ponding. Paste thickeners recover the maximum water possible from tailings streams. Tailings disposal sites have a longer life and the land can be reclaimed faster and easier. New tailings disposal sites can be smaller and significantly less costly.

High quality gas sensor solutions for total organic carbon (TOC)

Minimising costs through measurement of CO2 concentration. Both water suppliers and water users need to know the quality of the water they are supplying, using and disposing of so as to minimise their costs. One measure of water quality is the organic carbon content (TOC). TOC is measured by oxidising the organic carbon to produce CO2 which is then measured and the value converted into a TOC measurement. Edinburgh Sensors supply sensors to measure the CO2 concentration produced by oxidising the organic carbon in a water sample, allowing the TOC to be calculated. This TOC value determines one measure of how clean the water sample is.

  • RDF

RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) is made from domestic waste which includes biodegradable material as well as plastics, and has a lower calorific value than SRF (Solid Recovered Fuel). RDF (Refuse Derived Fuel) is used in combined heat and power facilities, many of them in Europe where they produce electricity and hot water for communal heating systems in the local area. Compared to landfilling, the lower carbon emissions resulting from RDF manufacture outweigh the emissions associated with transporting the reclaimed fuel. The increasing importance of Waste to Energy/RDF Waste to energy conversion is an increasingly recognised approach to resolving two issues: waste management and sustainable energy. Waste represents an increasingly important fuel source. Using waste as fuel can have important environmental benefits. It can not only provide a safe and cost-effective way of waste disposal but can also help reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
