  • Produced water treatment for oil and gas industry

Recycling, reusing or treating produced water does not always have to be expensive.  Most Oil & Gas companies manage more water than they do hydrocarbons.  While MIOX is not a 100% solution to all produced water treatment needs, it does do the heavy lifting.

  • Produced water management for the oil and gas industry

A combination of factors in recent years has led to increased attention to water management in the oil and gas industry. Some of these factors include: limited water resources in certain areas, development of water-intensive technologies to better exploit unconventional plays, excessive transportation/disposal costs for water, a changing regulatory environment and a public push for sustainability and conservation relating to water as a resource.

  • Flaring Solutions for the Upstream Oil & Gas Industry - Oil & Gas Produced Water

Because of the huge increase in U.S. natural gas production, there is elevated concern over the production of water that occurs in natural gas and oil fields. These concerns have led to additional state and federal regulations for low emission combustion technology and how companies will deal with produced water. ABUTEC’s high temperature enclosed combustors meet state and federal regulations for burning waste gas at a minimum of 99% destruction and removal efficiency (DRE), meaning almost 100 percent of the vapor to be destroyed is converted to CO2 and water. These combustors are of high quality, flexibility, low emissions, CSA-approved and able to burn very low calorific gas. Additionally, when combined with a heat exchanger, the unit can evaporate the excess produced water eliminating the need for expensive trucking or disposal.

  • Industrial water demineralisation

Deionized water, also known as demineralised water, is water that has had its mineral ions removed, such as cations like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium, iron, and anions such as chloride, nitrate, sulfate, bicarbonate and even silica. Deionization is a chemical process that uses specially manufactured ion exchange resins which exchange hydrogen ion and hydroxide ion for dissolved minerals, which then recombine to form water. Because the majority of water impurities are dissolved salts, deionization produces a high purity water that is generally similar to distilled water, and this process is quick and without scale buildup.

  • Industrial water Nickel & Cobalt purification

Cobalt is a brittle, hard transition metal with magnetic properties similar to iron. It is mainly used as an alloy with iron, nickel or other metals to produce corrosion and wear resistant products for high temperature applications (such as jet engines, gas turbines, etc.). Cobalt is normally produced as a by-product of nickel or copper mining. The purity requirements for Cobalt do not allow nickel to exceed a concentration 0.1%. Earlier, the nickel was removed by lime precipitations, but as the market specifications became more stringent, ion exchange technologies have been applied.

Water quality monitoring for semiconductor industry

Water is fundamental to the manufacturing process in a semiconductor facility. Electronic components are rinsed or washed several times during the producing process with ultrapure water (UPW) to remove residue. Continuous monitoring of organic constituents (TOC) on the influent city water assist with UPW production. Good quality waste streams for the manufacturing process can also be monitored for reuse potential.

Water quality monitoring for chemical industry

Chemical plants that produce high quantities of phenols (plastics, pesticides and pharmaceutical industries) and other aromatic organic compounds are excellent candidates for wastewater characterization via spectral analysis. Chemicals that contain conjugated double bonds absorb UV radiation remarkably well. The benefits include higher precision in process control as well as optimization of wastewater treatment.

Environmental dewatering solutions for industrial wastewater processing

TenCate Geotube technology provides cost-effective and sure dewatering and containment in a wide variety of industries.  In Power and Utility, Pulp and Paper and other general industries that produce sludge, TenCate Geotube dewatering technology enables the recovery of valuable materials, provides structural stability, improves water quality, or just reduces storage footprint by sometimes 50 to 80%.  The dewatering containers can be custom-sized to the application, placed in available space between other structures, and removed once dewatering is complete. In some cases, conditioners or polymers are used to promote flocculation to increase dewatering rate, improve solids retention and filtrate quality.

  • Industrial and commercial water filtration for reverse osmosis plants

Reverse Osmosis or RO is a system used to produce an ultra-high quality of water with use of membrane. Reverse Osmosis plants are required in many production processes.  Damage to these high quality membranes can easily be caused if no pre-filtration is in place to protect the system from high loading, this can result in extremely high costs of repairs, ranging from tens of thousands to millions, not to mention the loss of production to a company if as a result of plant failure production has to be stopped until the system is repaired.

  • Oil water separation for the food industry

Packaged-food producers frequently use and then must discard large batches of cooking oil used in their process. Usually they drain most of the oil directly from equipment, but they must remove residual oil by regularly washing fryers, ovens, conveyors, and other machinery.

The oil mixes with the wash water and becomes part of the plants wastewater stream. Having oil in wastewater complicates the wastewater-treatment process by making it more expensive, more time-consuming, and less effective. Additionally. as with other manufacturers, packaged-food producers want to reduce waste and decrease the environmental impact of operations. That is why removing used oil and solids from wastewater before it is discharged is a priority.

  • Water treatment research for oil and gas industry

The upstream oil and gas industry is increasingly becoming a water management industry. Globally, three barrels of water is extracted for every one barrel of oil produced. With effective management, this produced water can become a source of value, as disposal options become limited and environmental regulations tighten. New water treatment technologies will allow this water to be reused in waterflooding, enhanced oil recovery and hydraulic fracturing operations, in a market worth $5.2 billion in 2014. Managing the water used and extracted from unconventional resources, such as shale gas, tight oil, coalbed methane, heavy oil, and oil from ultra-deepwater offshore fields, will be a fast growing segment of this market. This section shows you in detail the different opportunities and strategies for these resources.

  • Odour and corrosion treatment solutions for wastewater treatment industry

Odour emissions form a serious problem for many people that live near or work in places which produce odours. These places can be factories, wastewater treatment plants, farms like pig and poultry breeders, solid waste disposal facilities and landfills. As some odourous compounds can be harmful for the health of humans other are simply unpleasant and can cause health problems when exposed to on a continuous basis. In either case something needs to be done about it.
