  • Horizontal Remediation Well Systems

Horizontal wells are a proven and effective remedial technology for site cleanup. For environmental applications, horizontal wells offer several advantages in comparison to traditional vertical wells. The first horizontal wells were installed using a mid-sized directional drill rig in 1993 by Directional Technologies, Inc. The three (3) horizontal Soil Vapor Extraction wells installed at John F. Kennedy International Airport was the beginning of a new industry. Directional Technologies, Inc. founders transferred their experience from the oil fields to the environmental industry. This has resulted in the installation of over 1,000 horizontal wells for site remediation worldwide. Horizontal Remediation Wells are a time-tested and proven technology that can provide solutions for problems previously considered unfeasible. Interested in learning more about this remedial technology, visit us at www.directionaltech.com for case studies and more.

  • Remediation data management

In most companies today, managers are overwhelmed with poorly organized, de-centralized data and are still making decisions by reacting to historical results driven by non-standardized processes and guessing about the future. Highly customized spreadsheets, manual extracts from hard to use ERP systems, “cut & paste” reporting…sound familiar?

MPP water purification systems for groundwater remediation application

Toxic hydrocarbons in groundwater can be found dissolved in water diffused over the area. At higher concentrations they can be present as DNAPLs (dense non-aqueous-phase liquids) or LNAPLS (light non-aqueous-phase liquids) creating an enduring source of toxic contaminant supply to the water phase.

  • Monitoring of VOCs in Porewater

Monitoring VOCs in porewater in the unsaturated zone is now possible.

Sorbisense regularly offers new options for using the patented Sorbicell, which is used to monitor surface water, wastewater and groundwater.

The latest is almost as “ground-breaking” as the SorbiCell itself. Until now it has been difficult, if not impossible, to directly monitor for volatile substances in pore water in the unsaturated zone. But the environmental consultancy firm Ejlskov A/S in Aarhus combined the use of Sorbisense sampling equipment with the proven technology of soil water samplers. With this combination, a practical new method is made available, which allows for monitoring the presence of porewater-dissolved VOCs above the groundwater table. This provides a significantly improved basis to define and determine the leaching risk to the groundwater, and thus allows for better and more cost-efficient decisions to prevent the pollution in reaching the groundwater.

A simple construction with multiple options

The application uses SorbiCell VOC combined with suction cells, soil water samplers. When installed correctly, and applied with the correct procedures, the suctions cells extract capillary bound water from the soil matrix. The system demands no other resource than a container that is put under vacuum. The vacuum in the container then ensures a flow through of the Sorbicell over a period of time, fx. 2-3 weeks. The method is highly suitable for monitoring a site over longer periods of time.

  • Ozone/UV systems for Industrial, municipal, and residential wastewater treatment

In 2004-2005 LIFETECH`s laboratory worked out an advanced oxidation process (AOP) for removal of dioxins and furans (PCDD/F), chlorophenols and other contaminants from the BCD process wastewater. Consequently, our technology was installed and from April 2006 successfully used in the `Spolana-Dioxins` Project at SPOLANA a.s. in Neratovice, Czech Republic, as a part of Special Wastewater Treatment Plant. Our supply consisted of an ozone generator with the output of 5 kg O3/h at 10% w/w ozone concentration, two reaction tanks with mixing systems, a vent ozone destructor, and a control system. The world largest project for removal of PCDD/F was managed by BCD CZ a.s., a subsidiary of Thermal and Chemical Soil Remediation Ltd.

Water Treatment Solutions for Uranium Removal

AdEdge provides treatment systems for for Uranium removal using AD92 an anion exchange media that is ideal for use in potable water as well as non-potable and environmental remediation applications for removal of naturally occurring uranium. The high efficiency AD92 can selectively remove the negatively charged uranium anion (most often in the form of uranyl carbonate) to below the existing EPA MCL of 30 ug/L. The AdEdge AD92 systems can deliver the needed performance in two ways: (1) via regeneration type systems which use the media to remove the uranium with periodic regeneration using NaCl brine; or (2) as a “throw away” discardable media, which can be discarded when spent. This option maximizes the very high capacity of the AD92. Where on-site regeneration is not available, this disposal option is the preferred option. Disposal options will vary based on federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Solutions for the equipment decontamination

BioSolve Pinkwater is used for cleaning/decontaminating tools and equipment at remediation sites, in refineries, on drilling rigs, following spill cleanup, and in industrial maintenance operations. Generally applied with standard pressure washing equipment.  Most oil and tar build-up can be washed away on contact. For more severe contamination, use of a hot water system may yield better results.

  • Dustless Lead Paint Removal & Nuclear Decon Tools for Concrete Scabbling

When concrete is contaminated with PCBs, radiation or other hazards, scabbling is often the only means of remediation. By removing a thin outer layer from a concrete surface, our shrouded power tools can make a structure safer for occupancy or demolition. Our powerful VAC-PAC® HEPA vacuum captures all dust, debris, and air-borne contaminants for easy transportation and disposal in standard 55-gallon (200L) drums. Whether you’re applying a new coating system or  a concrete overlay, a Concrete Surface Profile number (CSP 1-9) is often specified according to ICRI’s Technical Guideline No 310.2R. • Soil and Groundwater treatment solutions for bioremediation industry

Today bioremediation is successfully used as soil– and groundwater remediation technology. Many bioremediation systems, both in-situ as ex-situ techniques, usually result in considerable cost savings. Since the beginning of the 1980’s both in-situ and ex-situ bioremediation projects have been successfully completed worldwide through the use of preselected and adapted bacteria. QM Environmental Services supplies a range of microbial, bioactivator and nutrient products and gas delivery systems for the use in both aerobic and anaerobic bioremediation programs. Most common contaminants ranging from aliphatic hydrocarbons such as petroleum, lubrication oils, aromatic compounds like benzene and toluene to chlorinated solvents can be treated with these products.
