  • XRF analysis for product testing & toy safety

Each week brings a new report of problems with toy safety and consumer product safety. Ultimately, contract manufacturers, importers, distributors, retailers and brand owners all face potential liability when they fail to comply with laws which restrict the levels of toxic materials in their products. Handheld Niton analysers provide quick and easy screening of toys and other consumer goods for lead, cadmium, mercury and other toxic metals. Importers, brand owners and retailers can implement a standardised inspection protocol for incoming shipments to verify compliance, while simultaneously requiring supply chain documentation based on empirical testing.

  • Aerosol and particle technology for operational safety industries

During the production, the conveyance and the filling of solid particles in the form of powders, bulk materials, granulates, pellets and many other shapes, dust is generated as a rule. This dust formation can lead to an impairment of the operational safety and the reliability of the production process, e. g. by means of inhalable dust fractions. The workplace hygiene can also be endangered, e. g. through dust accumulations.

    Industrial Facilities

The dust generated at various times during the production and processing of materials in factories is often unpleasant and pollutes the environment. Such situations arise, for example, in steel production, when disposing of slag, in cement production or in the lumber industry. EmiControls products have the versatility and flexibility to be adapted to a wide and diverse range of situations, enabling measures to be taken that combat these sources of dust effectively and drastically reduce their levels inside and outside the plant.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for fumigation

Sea cargo containers and wooden packing materials are fumigated to control the spreading of pest animals and micro-organisms. Fumigant gases are toxic and measurements are carried out as a health and safety precaution. Measurements are required by e.g. customs inspectors prior to opening containers, making the shipping companies responsible for carrying out measurements. Products shipped in containers may release VOCs from e.g. solvents and glues used in manufacturing process. The concentrations of vapors may be significant in the confined space of the container. While most containers originate in China and Southeast Asia, cargo container measurements are done in ports across the world, as the same gases are encountered in all ports.

  • NDIR Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Monitoring

Carbon dioxide has a wide range of commercial uses, from the production of lasers to the carbonation of soft drinks. This gas has become a topic of interest because it is classified among the greenhouse gases, gases which impact the Earth's environment when they reach high concentrations in the atmosphere. We propose solutions for medical diagnostics (out-breath control) and for ecological monitoring (control of carbon dioxide, exhaust gases in the atmosphere).

  • RCRA Waste Processing

With over 40 million tons of recycled waste in the U.S. each year, operators are fervently searching for innovative methods to treat and dispose of RCRA wastes. Vulcan® Systems' thermal desorption technology is a proven method for recycling RCRA wastes in a manner that is efficient, affordable, and compliant with the Resource Conveservation and Recovery Act of 1976. The technology devolatizes hydrocarbons and captures them in a condensor for potential use in fuel blending, while also allowing the delisted end product to be disposed of in a more safe and secure manner. According to the EPA's website, "[the] EPA tried to develop hazardous waste regulations that balance the conservation of resources, while ensuring the protection of human health and the environment." Vulcan® Systems' technology meets the EPA's regulations to ensure that hydrocarbons can be re-used and, RCRA Waste, now delisted, can be appropriately disposed of without damage to the environment or public health.

Gas monitoring instruments and systems for flavoring agents

Manufacturing of powdered and liquid flavorings and fragrances involves production phases where flavoring chemicals may be released into the ambient air breathed by workers. Exposure control by gas analyzers in the production rooms and laboratories is necessary to ensure that the Time-Weighted Average (TWA) concentrations do not exceed the maximum Permissible Emission Limit (PEL) values.

Measurement of ethylene oxide for monitoring workplace exposure limits

The Series 8900 Ethylene Oxide Analyzer combines the selectivity of gas chromatography with the sensitivity of a Photoionization Detector (PID) providing interference free response to Ethylene Oxide (EtO) at levels below 0.05 ppm. This analytical method is referenced in OSHA`s `Occupational Exposure to Ethylene Oxide: Final Standard` 29 CFR Part 1910. The system documents exposure levels including: time-weighted averages (TWA), short-term exposure limits (STEL) and instantaneous alarms. Areas that are typically monitored include; EtO Sources - gas storage areas, sterilizer doors, aeration doors, and the General Work Area - decontamination, packaging and preparation and sterile product storage areas.

  • Air pollution control (APC) equipments for fire laboratories

Fire laboratories perform different types of tests and experiments to analyze the characteristics of products and materials , when exposed to fire. Using these data , manufacturers can improve their products, fire resistance, and their longevity. Although the fire is controlled in a laboratory, many toxic substances are formed and these must be removed before the air is released into the environment. EnviBATs technology is extremely effective for this type of application. It eliminates the particles of all sizes, which also has the advantage that it eliminates the burning smell.

Radiation Monitoring for Emergency Preparedness / Radiation Monitoring for Homeland Security

Nuclear and radiological risks are obviously a reality in today`s world, and anti-terrorism has become an absolute priority for homeland and border security. Alert and detection mechanisms are fundamental to current protection policies: we must be capable of preventing the illegal traffic of radioactive sources through border controls, and measuring gamma radiation in the environment if a malevolent act is committed. Saphymo meets homeland security and Emergency preparadness by proposing dosimeters and survey meters for both preventive and response purposes, enabling first responders to assess the character of radiological incidents. Border controls are performed using pedestrian and vehicle access control portals - Saphymo is a European leader in this field. Saphymo`s exhaustive range of reliable and high-performance products is fully adapted to the fight against CBRN terrorism and covers every conceivable situation.

  • Products for Industrial Weather Station

Situation: Process control, worker safety, incident response, environmental temperature, wind loads, and precipitation volume are all situations and conditions that may require real-time, local weather instruments. HVAC in large facilities may require “weather” instruments when a wall thermostat just won’t cut it.

By Dyacon, Inc. based in Logan, UTAH (USA).

  • Noise monitoring solutions for sound power

Noise emission values are increasingly becoming marketable items for machines, equipment and appliances - low noise emissions directly relate to lower noise exposure for product users and bystanders. Retail customers, both private and corporate, appreciate this relationship and are, therefore, more aware of noise emission declarations on goods when deciding their purchases.

    Indoor Air Quality Monitoring

Accurate control of critical indoor environmental parameters is not only essential for the well-being and comfort of building occupants, but also has a major impact on energy efficiency. A multitude of parameters can affect indoor air quality (IAQ) from gases such as carbon dioxide (CO2), carbon monoxide (CO) and volatile organic compounds to particulates, humidity and bacteria such as legionella. CO2 is one of the greatest variables affecting indoor environmental quality since it is produced by people occupying the building. CO2 production is a function of the number, size and activity levels of the people present in the building. Local concentrations can therefore vary dramatically – for example when a meeting room is occupied, or while workers are on lunch or coffee breaks. Excess CO2 levels can lead to tiredness and a lack of concentration and can contribute to the symptoms of Sick Building Syndrome such as headaches, eye, nose and throat irritation, itchy skin and nausea.
