  • Wind or solar powered sewage treatment plants

Use natural air currents for aerobic sewage treatment via venting pipes. Alternatively, they can be solar powered using a very low energy 12 Volt fan. The FILTERPOD requires no electricity for the treatment process. They finally allow modern, high quality sewage treatment for all regions of the world, even for off-grid locations.

  • Sewage treatment for commercial businesses in outlying areas

The package sewage treatment plant is used to fill the gap between individual septic type systems and large municipal plants. They are used to provide sewage treatment for subdivisions, mobile home parks, schools, recreational parks, nursing homes, factories and other commercial businesses in outlying areas without municipal sewer facilities.

Sewage Treatment Plants and Flow Sensors for Industry Application

In sewage treatment plants, flow sensors are primarily installed for internal reasons. Ultrasonic flow meters are used to control the flow velocity in partially filled and fulfilled pressurized pipes, specific plant components, for leak detection or to control the use of additives. International regulations such as the EU-Directive for handling municipal waste water require flow metering for a continuous surveillance of waste water flow. Defective flow monitoring in sewage-treatment plants can therefore influence their operation, but there can also be legal or environmental consequences.

    Wastewater treatment upgrades & extensions

The time comes that a Sewage Treatment Facility Municipal or Industrial may require significant upgrading or even an extension. The upgrade usually concerns improvement process performance (removal rates) and efficiency as well as replacement of mechanical equipment. The plant expansion usually refers to an increase of the capacity or to the extension of treatment ability, ie adding Nutrient Removal.

Applications and Air Pollutants Removed for Wastewater Treatment Operations

For industrial and municipal treatment plants; Chemical scrubbers, biological towers and adsorption systems to remove hydrogen sulfide, mercaptans, other organic sulfur compounds and ammonia from digesters, pump stations, ponds, grit and screening works, sludge filter presses and dryers. Special Wet Electrostatic Precipitator for sewage sludge incinerators. Stripping ammonia and other volatile compounds. Decarbonization removal of carbon dioxide from wastewater.

  • Microbial formulations for municipal sector

MICROCAT microbial formulations from Bioscience, Inc., are blends of specialized, naturally occurring microbes and other ingredients that work together to solve the most common, damaging problems inherent to municipal wastewater plants. By augmenting existing microbial populations, MICROCAT products naturally aid in stabilizing municipal sewage treatment and collection systems, enhancing their ability to break down difficult-to-degrade wastes and handle highly variable waste treatment conditions.

  • Sulfide Oxidation with Hydrogen Peroxide (H2O2)

Sulfide Odor Control Sulfide is found throughout the environment as a result of both natural and industrial processes. Most sulfide found in nature was produced biologically (under anaerobic conditions) and occurs as free hydrogen sulfide (H2S) - characterized by its rotten egg odor. We are most likely to encounter biogenic H2S in sour groundwaters, swamps and marshes, natural gas deposits, and sewage collection/treatment systems. Manmade sources of H2S typically occur as a result of natural materials containing sulfur (e.g., coal, gas and oil) being refined into industrial products. For a variety of reasons - aesthetics (odor control), health (toxicity), ecological (oxygen depletion in receiving waters), and economic (corrosion of equipment and infrastructure) - sulfide laden wastewaters must be handled carefully and remediated before they can be released to the environment. Typical discharge limits for sulfide are < 1 mg/L. Sulfide Treatment Alternatives There are dozens of alternatives for treating sulfide laden waters, ranging from simple air stripping (for the low levels present in groundwaters) to elaborate sulfur recovery plants (used to treat several tons per day at refineries and coal burning power plants). There are processes based on biology (using compost filters, scrubbing media, or inhibition/disinfection), chemistry (oxidation, precipitation, absorption, and combination), and physics (adsorption, volatilization, and incineration). Each process occupies a niche which is often defined by the scale and continuity of treatment, whether the sulfide is in solution or is a gas, the concentration of sulfide involved, and the disposition of the sulfide containing medium. However, for reasons relating to convenience and flexibility, chemical oxidation (using hydrogen peroxide) continues to grow in its scope of application. Treatment with Hydrogen Peroxide While other peroxygens such as permonosulfuric (Caro’s) acid, peracetic acid, and persulfates will oxidize sulfide, their use for this application is overkill. Hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) is considerably simpler and more cost-effective. H2O2 may control sulfides in two ways, depending on the application: Prevention - by providing dissolved oxygen which inhibits the septic conditions which lead to biological sulfide formation; and Destruction - by oxidizing sulfide to elemental sulfur or sulfate ion.

  • Final effluent monitoring for wastewater treatment industry

Industry and municipal waste-water (sewage) treatment plants have had to respond to environmental legislation such as the Urban Waste Water Directive, IPC, IPPC and now the EPR (Environmental Permitting Regulations). As successive legislation becomes more stringent, discharge consents have been progressively tightened, and the need for self-regulation has become more important. As a consequence, on-line instrumentation has been installed throughout waste-water industry to continuously to provide final effluent monitoring and perform water analysis for key consent parameters.

    Municipal & industrial sludge dewatering

The waste-sludge generated by primary and secondary (biological) treatment of municipal & industrial wastewater needs to be managed at every plant big or small. In the larger sewage treatment facilities waste sludge thickening and dewatering has always been assumed a necessity without the planners and designers thinking twice about the cost requirements.

Water accountability portable monitoring for solving flow rate mystery

The Glen Walter Sewage Collection System was built to service 1080 customers in 1989. At the time the population was 850 but by 1995 the sewage treatment plant had already reached capacity. Shawn Killoran took over the Operations Manger position in 1999 and, along with the Mayor and Council, he immediately had concerns about the excess flow.
