sewer flow Applications

  • Sewer Meter -

Sewer Meters monitor sewage level and flow within the sewers. Benefits gained by sewer monitoring include: (1) Detection of overflow conditions before overflow occurs thereby preventing hazardous environmental events. (2) Detection of blocked sewer pipes, allowing quick and focused maintenance thereby reducing maintenance costs. (3)Detection of over-used and under-used pipes for long term municipal planning. (4) Monitoring of sewage flow in sensitive sites such as flow to the river or sea. (5) Estimation of sewage flow for costing purposes and especially for pricing the use of public infrastructure by industrial plants. The sewer meter solution consists of two main components: (1) The fielded component includes GaugerGSM, an ultrasonic non-contact level sensor integrated with GSM cellular transmitter. The fielded component also includes accessories such as external battery pack. (2) A web-based monitoring application for presenting data from all sewer sites.

  • Drain, trap & sewer cleaning solutions for restaurant and hotel industry

Restaurants, fast food, hotel and other commercial operations with kitchens can experience clogged drains caused by FOG accumulation. These situations always occur at inconvenient times when the kitchen is in full operation and cause serious disruptions. The costs for emergency interventions are considerable. QM Environmental Services offers a range of MICROCAT products that help solve and prevent these plumbing systems from clogging and keep them free flowing and odour free. Developed through the years, MICROCAT products, whether dry or liquid are capable of safely and effectively loosening and digesting the troublesome substances, which clog drainage and trap systems and cause odours. When used on a regular basis, MICROCAT products can result in savings on operational and maintenance costs.

  • Monitoring Sewage Flow

Monitoring Sewage Flow is a critical tool for local governments, for water and waste-water utilities and for industrial plants. Sewage monitoring can prevent environmental disasters such as sewage overflow within populated neighborhoods or excessive waste flow into local lakes, rivers or sea. Sewage monitoring is also an important tool for short term and long term planning of the sewers infrastructure. Short term refers to just-in-time and cost effective maintenance. For example, sending the technical team to the correct manhole at the correct time to clean and eliminate obstructions. Long term planning refers to designing the correct pipe diameters and correct slopes to contain sewage from new new buildings and plants. Sewage monitoring is a tool for billing plants who produce sewage above their water intake and a tool for plants which utilize water to request lower utility bills. Solid Applied Technologies provides a complete and tested solution for Sewer Monitoring.

  • Food & beverage wastewater treatment

Food Industry wastewater (Meat, Milk, Canned fruits and vegetables, Beverages, etc) must be adequately treated to meet the discharge requirements of public sewers or channel, or reuse as irrigation water mainly. These industries wastewater has the following characteristics:

    • Large variations in flow and pollutant load during harvesting.
    • High suspended solids content.
    • High concentration of easily biodegradable organic matter.
    • Absence of toxics elements.
    • Adequate concentration of nutrients.

  • Residential Areas and Hostelries wastewater treatment

Residential Areas and Hostelries wastewater, including water generated by domestic use, by shops, restaurants and laundries, must be adequately treated to meet the discharge requirements of public sewers or channel, or reuse as irrigation water mainly.

This wastewater has the following characteristics:

    • Variations in flow depending on the time of day and season (mainly in tourist areas).
    • High suspended solids content.
    • Presence of oils, fats and detergents.
    • High concentration of easily biodegradable organic matter.
    • Adequate concentration of nutrients.

  • Dye Tracing

Monitoring the dilution and movement of a tracer introduced into the water column provides an excellent means of determining the path that may be followed by a discharge and the rate at which dilution is likely to take place. Fluorescent dyes such as Rhodamine, Fluorescein or Agma are the most frequently used tracers for such investigations. Chelsea Technologies has been providing dye tracing systems for over 30 years. Typical applications include sub-sea pipeline leak detection, pollution studies, natural water flow analysis (rivers, lakes, ocean currents, cave water flows, groundwater filtration etc), sewer and storm water drainage analysis. The Chelsea systems can be configured for a wide variety of tracers, are highly sensitive, robust, and deliver real-time data. They can be moored, profiled, towed or affixed to ROV / AUV platforms.

  • Gravity Main Sulfide Odor Control with Hydrogen Peroxide

Gravity main sewer systems include major trunk lines and the tributaries that feed them. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) odor builds up in the collections system as the flows collect from upstream reaches and become larger, deeper and more septic (oxygen depleted) in the downstream reaches more near to the wastewater treatment plant. In general, most of the more significant hydrogen sulfide odor and corrosion control problems occur in the major trunk systems segments conveying flow to the plant. Therefore, selection of sulfide treatment for gravity systems has several options depending mainly on: Duration of control required Degree of septicity (oxygen depletion) Location of target control points or "hot spots" Location of available dosing points upstream of "hot spots" Availability of civil infrastructure and utilities Sensitivity to hazardous chemicals
