site environmental risk Applications

  • Site and Risk Assessments, Risk Management and Remdial Solutions

No matter what the size of the project is, we service residential, commercial, industrial, local, state and federal agency clients, conducting environmental site assessments, deterministic and probabilistic risk characterizations and Indoor Air Forensic Investigations to evaluate the impact of exposures to hazardous chemicals and radio-logical materials on human health, public welfare, safety and the environment in MA, NY, CT, RI, NH, CO, and the Virgin Islands. Projects undertaken comply with Federal CERCLA/SARA, TSCA, RCRA, RBCA, Brownfields, NRC, DOD and DOE regulations and/or programs, and at the state level: Massachusetts Contingency Plan (MCP), Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection (CTDEEP) Remedial Standards, New Hampshire Department of Environmental Services (DES), New York (NYSDEC), New Jersey, Maryland, Rhode Island and other state programs, using innovative approaches to develop site-specific risk-based cleanup strategies and

    Contaminated Water Filtration

Industry standard best practices are designed to ensure that all work done on Asbestos Abatement Projects is done to the highest level of safety and risk management. Containment of the generated waste water fibers and debris is critical to proper compliance and worker safety. If these fibers are not captured and contained, they can be very harmful for the environment, on-site workers and the occupants of neighboring areas. Exactly how you approach your containment and capture solutions will depend on the individual site’s risk assessment report. If you need help identifying solutions to the issues raised in the report, feel free to contact our customer service department and we can review your options together. Water from showers at Asbestos Abatement sites is often contaminated with asbestos fibers from washing protective gear and equipment. This water must be filtered prior to discharge into a drain.

  • Monitoring of VOCs in Porewater

Monitoring VOCs in porewater in the unsaturated zone is now possible.

Sorbisense regularly offers new options for using the patented Sorbicell, which is used to monitor surface water, wastewater and groundwater.

The latest is almost as “ground-breaking” as the SorbiCell itself. Until now it has been difficult, if not impossible, to directly monitor for volatile substances in pore water in the unsaturated zone. But the environmental consultancy firm Ejlskov A/S in Aarhus combined the use of Sorbisense sampling equipment with the proven technology of soil water samplers. With this combination, a practical new method is made available, which allows for monitoring the presence of porewater-dissolved VOCs above the groundwater table. This provides a significantly improved basis to define and determine the leaching risk to the groundwater, and thus allows for better and more cost-efficient decisions to prevent the pollution in reaching the groundwater.

A simple construction with multiple options

The application uses SorbiCell VOC combined with suction cells, soil water samplers. When installed correctly, and applied with the correct procedures, the suctions cells extract capillary bound water from the soil matrix. The system demands no other resource than a container that is put under vacuum. The vacuum in the container then ensures a flow through of the Sorbicell over a period of time, fx. 2-3 weeks. The method is highly suitable for monitoring a site over longer periods of time.

  • River Level Monitoring -

SUMMARY Fielded water level measurement stations, based on GaugerGSM sensor, report real time stream levels and flow. Stations are located across a stream-rich region of the upper Galilee feeding the Jordan river in the northern part of Israel. The region is a popular tourist destination due to its biblical origins, rich flora and fauna. Field data is available over the Internet to authorized engineers, site supervisors and Government officials. remote monitoring station - close up THE NEED The water basin in the Upper Galilee maintains a delicate balance between recharges, net precipitation, domestic and irrigation consumption, and water tourism (canoeing). Local and state officials are tasked to study the tradeoffs, manage risks and take actions to keep the balance. Monitoring stations are essential for data collection. remote monitoring station - overall
