  • Belt filter press

Belt Filter Press is often applied in wastewater treatment plant sludge dewatering process and it is one of the most cost effective options regardless of the type of sludge feed into the systems. There are several combined processes added into one unit and it involves different applications such as chemical conditioning, gravity drainage and mechanical shearing and compression effect to remove water and dry up the sludge. Today, belt filter presses are widely used and it has become a standard for general wastewater sludge application and thus, learning how to optimize and use it to your advantage is very important.

Hydrogen sulfide removal in sludge management

In the treatment of sanitary sewage, bio-solids are separated from the liquid. These bio-solids are concentrated and dewatered using filter presses, centrifuges, or other devices. Hydrogen sulfide and mercaptans are released during the dewatering operation.  Carus permanganates react quickly and produce immediate results for hydrogen sulfide removal in order to provide a safe, odor free environment and minimize corrosion due to sulfides.

  • Wastewater treatment for the sludge treatment

The most used techniques to reduce sludge water content include physical-chemical processes, such as flottation or the use of mechanical systems, such as press filters.

  • Thickening and dewatering of sludges for water and wastewater industry

Both economic and ecological demands make maximum dewatering of sludge a most crucial step in the process flow, especially for the pulp and paper industry with their large quantities of sludge to handle. A highest possible dry content of dewatered sludge minimizes weight and volume, hence achieving the following objectives: reduction of transport and disposal cost. high heating value for incineration without additional fuel. With the sludge dewatering systems including both AKSE S disc thickener and AKUPRESS BX screw press BELLMER KUFFERATH Machinery offers plant and equipment able to dewater structured sludges to maximum dry contents.

Sludge Pressing, Thickening, dewatering and Solid-liquid Separation.

  • Enhanced Biosolids and Bio Sludge Dewatering with Wilsa EWC

IMPROVED BIOSOLIDS/ BIO SLUDGE DEWATERING WITH WILSA® CONDITIONING The WILSA ElectroWave™ effect can be used to condition polar fluids to alter their physical properties, improving several chemical and physical processes. - Reducing surface tension to improve the ability of water to repel solids - break physical / chemical emulsions - Increasing the contact angle of water - improve coalescing of solid particulate toaccelerate phase separation - Lowering the viscosity of water - reduce friction of flocculated solids dropping through less viscous water - Lower viscosity, reduced surface tension and increased contact angle of water - improve aeration of wastewater Installation of WILSA® ElectroWave Conditioner upstream of a belt press at a wastewater treatment plant resulted in polymer usage dropping by >50% while achieving much dryer solids.

Hazardous waste treatment solutions for metal industry

Sludge by-products from the metalworking industry have a high potential for recycling. Prolonged grinding processes can generate large amounts of highly valuable, alloy-rich sludge; consisting of metal powder and cooling lubricants. Inside our VacuDry system, the thermal separation of the liquids (hydrocarbons, eventually water) and solids (metal powder) takes place in an oxygen free atmosphere. This absence of oxygen ultimately eliminates material degradation by oxidation, and self-ignition or explosion risks. Operation under a low vacuum ensures the possibility to recover the cooling lubricants for later reuse. After the thermal treatment, for appropriate handling in the melting process, the metal powder is pressed into briquettes. With the econ VacuDry technology, 100% recycling of all ingredients is possible.
