    ph determination for soil testing

Determination of the pH value provides information about the acid or base action of the soil solution. This in turn is enormously important for the nutrient supply and microbial activity of the soil. For example, many metals (trace elements) are considerably more mobile in acidic soils. If the soil pH values are very low, toxic levels can soon be reached and these can damage the roots of plants. On the other hand, excessively high pH values quickly lead to a shortage of trace elements because of immobilization.

    TPH in Soil Remediation

InfraCal TOG/TPH Analyzers allow for TPH (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons) in soil testing at remediation sites such as leaking underground storage tanks and produced water evaporation ponds. Site managers can avoid having costly soil remediation equipment sit idle while waiting for off-site lab results. Sampling requires a few simple steps that can be performed by non-technical personnel. The soil is mixed with the extraction solvent, shaken, filtered, and then presented to the InfraCal Analyzer for measurement. Features include: - Results in under 15 minutes, including extraction ¨ Detect levels as low as 10 ppm ¨ Portable, rugged, lightweight, easy-to-use ¨ Battery operable ¨ Ideal for field or laboratory applications ¨ Factory calibration available

  • Air monitoring equipments for soil contamination monitoring

Previous land uses or accidental spills can result in Volatile Organic Compound (VOC) contamination of soils. Volatile and semi-volatile compounds can then permeate through the soil and may persist for several years. This contamination can be traced and measured using our Soil Probes in conjunction with our VOC sorbent tubes. Soil probes are also useful in checking the effectiveness of remediation actions. This monitoring technique provides a cost-effective identification of hazardous gases.

Gas analysis & monitoring system for soil degassing

The migration of magma towards the surface in a volcano is usually accompanied by the release of gas that was previously dissolved in the magma itself. In an open conduit volcano, most of the gas escapes through the main conduits of the volcano and then through the craters. However, a significant proportion (approximately 10%) of the total quantity of gas can escape laterally through faults and fractures that are normally present in the flanks of a volcano. Therefore, increases in the amount of gas emitted usually indicate the initial stages of magmatic migration towards the surface.

Measurement solution for soil chamber gas flux

Closed chamber gas flux measurements can be made with Protea FTIR analysers to allow researchers in the field of atmospheric gas analysis from agricultural and livestock to measure evolved gases such as N2O, CO2, CO, NH3, and CH4. Nitrous oxide (N2O) and Methane (CH4) emissions from soil, plant and livestock are especially important gases to measure, given their high potential as greenhouse gases (GHGs). NH3, whilst not a greenhouse gas on the scale of N2O, CH4 and CO2, is a major emission from agricultural, such as after the spreading of liquid manure, and steps are required to measure and reduce the NH3 emissions and the effects they have on the ecosystem.
