water erosion control Applications

  • Erosion Control & Sediment Control

Nilex’s engineered erosion control and sediment control products reduce the damaging effects of rainfall, wind and wave action on soil structures while replacing or reducing the dependency on scarce natural resources.

    Erosion Control

Geosynthetic erosion control products are designed to reduce damaging effects of rainfall, run-off, and wave and wind action on soil structures by redirecting water flow or acting as a barrier between the soil surface and water.

Nilex Erosion Control systems include: Erosion Control Blankets (ECBs); Turf Reinforcement Mats(TRMs); Gabion systems; Concrete Revetment and Mattresses; and Cellular Confinementsystems.

    Sediment Control

Properly implemented sediment control practices can result in minimal soil loss, little damage to
off-site receiving channels, enhanced project aesthetics and fewer complaints from regulators and the public.

Nilex Sediment Control systems include: GeoRidge Bio; Silt Fence; Turbidity Curtains;SedimentSTOP and Wattles; and Water Inflated Dams.

  • Erosion & sediment control solutions for water remediation

`Water should never be treated as a nonrenewable resource; it should always be treated with the respect it deserves as the foundation of life on the planet.` Most water on earth is in a continuous cycle between water bodies, land and the atmosphere. An important component of smart water solutions is the cycling of water treatment solutions using processes by which water enters, moves through and exits soil are essential for sustaining plants and soil organisms, transporting nutrients and recharging surface and ground water supplies. Water moving in soil also impacts the behavior and transport of soil solutes and their effect on water quality.

  • Erosion control and separation for hydraulic works

Tidal fluctuations and wave action can cause major damage to coastlines and off-shore construction projects. Nonwoven and specialty woven geotextiles can be used as a filter under layer beneath stone/ rock armour. Also riprap or synthetic erosion control mats are used to control erosion by disallowing the sub grade soil particles to erode. The geotextiles prevent erosion carried off by runoff water or other erosive waters, such as waves, stream flow, etc.

  • Erosion & sediment control solutions for costal/beach region

Coastal erosion is the wearing away of land or the removal of beach or dune sediments by wave action, tidal currents, wave currents, or drainage. Removing sand and other materials from beaches and dunes due to tidal storm surges and construction purposes causes massive beach erosion damages and land loss of seashores, thus destroying the natural heritage of the coast and reducing the vibrancy of the tourism industry. Uprooting vegetation from coastal areas destabilises beaches and clearing sites inland results in increased soil and dirt particles being washed offshore and smothering coral reef systems.

Erosion control solutions for the waterway & shoreline stabilization

Stream banks and shorelines can present far-reaching erosion and sediment control challenges. Variable flow conditions and shoreline shear stresses must be considered as well as the effects of flooding, runoff and topography. The need to protect water quality plus aquatic and wildlife habitats can be critical. No matter what erosion control problems and other issues are part of your project, you can be sure we have a solution that works. Whether your shoreline or stream bank project is simple or demanding, and whether it requires temporary and/or permanent erosion control solutions, you can rely on North American Green`s RollMax Rolled Erosion Control Systems and RevetMax Flexible Revetment Systems for durable protection, stabilization and reinforcement.

  • Membrane Filtration for Stormwater Treatment

As most tropical countries face unpredictable rain falls, building sites have to be managed differently. In Singapore an effective Erosion Control Measure (ECM) was required at a building site, in order to treat the storm water before discharging it to the public drain.

  • Posi-Shell Coatings

Posi-Shell erosion control coatings are the perfect low-cost solution to protect and stabilize slopes. Our long-term coatings are spray-applied and allow engineers or operators to protect acres (hectares) of slope in a single day. The finished coating is durable and textured, reducing water energy across large areas. The final product eliminates erosion, siltation, and (as a result) expensive rework. The product can be designed to last for years and is easily tracked into slopes when intermediate protection is no longer necessary. Indeed, when integrated, Posi-Shell actually improves soil quality by conditioning it for future seeding. Posi-Shell’s simplicity and durability make it tremendously effective at controlling windblown dust, infiltration, or runoff associated with clean or contaminated stockpiles. Unlike cumbersome tarps or geo-membranes, Posi-Shell erosion control coatings are spray applied and do not require any ballast. Posi-Shell conforms and adheres to any topography and delivers 100% clean runoff. Stockpile loading or removal is accomplished by breaking into the coating where desired. Active areas may be left open or quickly resealed if required. Posi-Shell erosion control coatings are ideal for protecting expensive piles of salt, coal, or cement clinker; and are used extensively for containing hazardous or radioactive soils.
