    Mechanical Evaporation

Modern nozzle and turbine technology developed by EmiControls is also used as a basis for the evaporation of water. This might typically be needed in open-pit mining, for example, to deal with large unwanted pools of water. Special nozzles can be used to atomize the water for evaporation. Evaporation is also useful in salt production. The tried and tested EmiControls technology can make the rate of evaporation much faster than the natural speed of evaporation, which helps the operators save an enormous amount of time.

  • Evaporators technology for food and beverage industry

The food & beverage industry uses water for containers’ and plants’ rinsing, raw materials and plants’ washing, and for boilers feeding. All the effluents coming from the production process can be reused a second time allowing water saving and matter recovery (when needed).

  • Evaporators technology for mining & primary metals industries

Water is essential component in the mining and steel industries. The main needs under this aspect are optimizing the management of the resources, improving productivity by treating available water for specific production process requirements and managing environmental risks by treating contaminated pond and underground mine water to remove heavy metals, arsenic and other contaminants for safe discharge into sensitive environment.

  • Evaporators technology for health care industry

In a cutting-edge sector, such as Pharma & Cosmetics production, the needs related to wastewater can be summarized as optimization of the whole water cycle management, controlling the costs and respecting the environment. Within the Health Care industry, water is commonly used in liquid, either as an ingredient in many formulations and also as a cleaning agent. The wastewater coming from these processes can offer opportunities for matter recovery and water reuse.

  • Using evaporation to dewater Reverse Osmosis reject waste streams

Reverse Osmosis (RO) technology has been used for years in various industries to separate dissolved solids from water by forcing the water through a semi-permeable membrane. RO is also commonly used to purify drinking water and desalinate seawater to yield potable water. The water and other molecules with lower molecular weight (specific weight of molecules allowed to pass through is dependent on the selected membrane) pass through the micropores in the membrane, yielding a purified water stream called the permeate. Larger molecules are retained by the membrane as well as a portion of the water that does not pass through the membrane. This concentrated stream is called the concentrate or RO reject.

  • Flaring Solutions for the Landfill Industry - Leachate Evaporation

Increased concern for the environment has led to new opportunities for landfills to better manage their waste gas. ABUTEC works with the landfill industry to ensure that leachate evaporation is handled in the most efficient way possible. ABUTEC’s high temperature enclosed combustors meet state and federal regulations for burning landfill waste gas at a minimum of 99% destruction and removal efficiency (DRE), meaning almost 100 percent of the vapor to be destroyed is converted to CO and water. These combustors are of high quality, flexibility, low emissions, CSA-approved and able to burn very low calorific gas. When combined with a heat exchanger, the unit can efficiently evaporate the leachate eliminating the need for expensive trucking or disposal.

  • Evaporators technology for chemical industry

Water is one of the most important solvent or component in the chemicals production industry. From the production of water as a solvent for formulas, to the water used for mixers and reactors washing operations, the management of the whole water cycle from inlet to final discharge is a primary importance issue to face.

  • Evaporators technology for photovoltaic & Microelectronics industries

The manufacturing process of the cells that make up the photovoltaic systems and the printed circuits require water in quantity and high quality. This water has to be managed wisely so as not to affect the productivity and the expenses of the plant.

  • Evaporators technology for oil & gas industry

The oil & gas industry faces water and wastewater treatment specific challenges. EVALED evaporators represent an effective solution for both downstream (onshore and offshore) and upstream plants, allowing ZLD (Zero Liquid Discharge).

  • Evaporators technology for mechanical & surface treatment industry

Market segments such as automotive, aviation, furniture, appliance involve: mechanical treatments and surface treatments that require large quantity of water and produce highly pollutant wastewater that cannot be discharged directly and contribute to increase company’s running costs.

Industrial solutions for cooling water contamination

Problem: Large quantities of water are used for cooling in industrial manufacturing. To prevent scaling, corrosion and biofilm in the cooling system, inhibitors and biocides are regularity dosed. Make-up water is continuously added to the system to balance the loss of water from evaporation. As water is added, the concentration of chemicals is diluted and the quality of water changes.

Boiler Water Testing / Cooling Tower Water Testing

Boilers and cooling towers share two major water related problems: deposits and corrosion. As steam is generated by a boiler or water evaporating from a cooling tower, dissolved minerals are left behind, increasing the concentration of these minerals. Additional minerals are introduced via the water added to makeup the water lost to steam/evaporation. Eventually, the minerals reach a level (or cycle) of concentration that will cause either loss of efficiency due to scale or damage from corrosion. This level can be determined by the Ryznar or Langlier indices and correlated to a conductivity or TDS range. Most people recognize problems associated with corrosion. Effects from scale deposits, however, are equally important. For example, as little as 1/8` of scale can reduce the efficiency of a boiler by 18% or a cooling tower heat exchanger by 40%!

  • Environmental technology for droplet seperation industry

As component of the gas scrubbing plants or as single apparatus Körting swirl droplet separators for seperating droplets and recondensates make an essential contribution towards the observation of emission codes and therefore towards the protection of the environment. They are used in gas scrubbing and vacuum plants, for condensate separation in chimney stacks, in evaporating plants as well as for the separation of difficult products (e. g. those with a tendency to polymerisation).

  • Parts cleaning wastewater solution

Parts cleaning wastewater is a common application for ENCON Wastewater Evaporators. Parts cleaning is almost entirely water-based since the Montreal Protocol forced companies to abandon chlorinated fluorocarbons (CFC’s) and solvent degreasers. The wastewater is generally brownish gray and translucent with a soapy appearance. It may have trace settled solids and floating oil.

  • Ink, Paint, and Glue wastewater solution

Ink, Paint, and Glue wastewaters are some of the toughest wastewaters to deal with due to their tendency to coat functional components of the wastewater treatment equipment. This type of wastewater is typically treated in the ENCON Drum Evaporator. Qualification of the waste stream for the Drum Evaporator is performed via a bench scale test in the ENCON laboratory.

  • Metal finishing wastewater solution

Metal finishing wastewater is a common application for ENCON Wastewater Evaporators. There are many types of wastewater generated in metal finishing. These include vibratory / tumbling wastewater, stamping wastewater, die casting wastewater and polishing wastewater. Metal Finishing wastewater cannot be simply flushed down the drain. Many companies choose to avoid the headaches of labor-intensive wastewater treatment technologies such as chemical treatment or filtration and simply pay to haul the wastewater. This however, can become quite expensive.

  • Plating rinse wastewater solution

Plating rinse wastewater is one of the most common applications for ENCON Wastewater Evaporators. Wastewater from plating rinse tends to be rather corrosive. The chemistries used in the plating process can include a wide range of acids such as nitric acid, chromic acid, hydrochloric acid, sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, as well as other non-acid chemistries like ammonium bifluoride and nickel sulfamate. Typically, the waste stream has a transparent, relatively clean look because they are dilute and the contaminants are in solution.

  • Spent coolant wastewater solution

Waste coolant or spent coolant wastewater is one of the more common applications for ENCON Wastewater Evaporators. The most common type of coolant is made up of water-soluble oils, but water-soluble synthetics or semi- synthetics are also used. The coolants are used to cool the tool and part to minimize overheating during machining and grinding applications. The coolant is collected in sumps and continuously recirculated. In time, the coolants break down and become less effective. The coolants, now spent, must be disposed of.
