  • Horizontal Remediation Well Systems

Horizontal wells are a proven and effective remedial technology for site cleanup. For environmental applications, horizontal wells offer several advantages in comparison to traditional vertical wells. The first horizontal wells were installed using a mid-sized directional drill rig in 1993 by Directional Technologies, Inc. The three (3) horizontal Soil Vapor Extraction wells installed at John F. Kennedy International Airport was the beginning of a new industry. Directional Technologies, Inc. founders transferred their experience from the oil fields to the environmental industry. This has resulted in the installation of over 1,000 horizontal wells for site remediation worldwide. Horizontal Remediation Wells are a time-tested and proven technology that can provide solutions for problems previously considered unfeasible. Hazardous waste treatment solutions for site remediation

The contamination of soils as a result of prior chemical production can often be unpredictable and diverse. The majority of such pollutants will require an ex-situ treatment method. Many of our VacuDry units can be used for direct-feeding contaminated soils. To reduce the input amount for thermal treatment, the VacuDry units can also be used in combination with soil-washing plants: In this case, customers only feed the high polluted fractions and screened fines (e.g. below 10 mm), as well as the filter-cake from the soil washing process. However, we are able to handle soil contaminated with mercury, hydrocarbons, PAH, PCB, dioxins, furans, organic-lead compounds and many more. VacuDry plants for on-site ex-situ remediation projects are delivered in a modular design.

Reliable Shredding Technology for Pulper Ropes

In addition to a homogenised granulate of your residual products, our customized shredding systems guarantee an optimal pre-product for further recycling or thermal utilisation in your plants. Pulper ropes or the reject are secondary raw materials that are created when waste paper is recycled. The pulper ropes must not be landfilled due to their material composition and must therefore be recycled accordingly – in most cases through shredding and subsequent separation of metals, glass and stones, etc. Our rotary shears or 2-shaft shredders together with our 4-shaft technology are very well suited for this application case. The advantage of the 4-shaft machines lies in the fact that the pre- and re-shredding occurs in one process step.

  • Offshore Oil Drilling and Production Project

PROJECT OVERVIEW: The re-lining of 12 seawater supply wells to a depth of 45 metres with Boode Select PVC screen and casing. The supply wells support an offshore oil drilling and production platform and were re-lined following the failure of existing stainless steel screen and casing due to sand ingress and corrosion.

  • Drinking Water Treatment

The AnoxKaldnes™ MBBR technology is an ideal solution for treatment of potable water whenever there is a need for removal of biologically transformable pollutants, such as NH4+, NO3- or organic compounds. In most cases, pollution levels in drinking water are relatively low, putting demands on a biological process to be able to maintain a high concentration of active microorganisms despite low incoming substrate concentrations. The fixed-film of AnoxKaldnes™ MBBR fulfills this very well and is successfully applied for removal of pollutants in concentrations of a few mg/L.

  • Hydroxyl Number in Polyols (OH#) #3013

The use of polymeric polyols is commonplace in the manufacturing of polyurethanes and other specialty polymers. The hydroxyl number (OH#) is a measure of the concentration of the hydroxyl groups on the polyol. This is an important parameter to monitor and control during polyol production. The laboratory method that is commonplace for hydroxyl number determination is both time consuming and involves the use of hazardous materials. This note will discuss the use of Guided Wave hardware and software tools for the measurement of hydroxyl number in polyols using fiber optic-based, Near-Infrared (NIR) spectroscopy. NIR can be applied in real time directly in process or as a laboratory procedure. In either case NIR is a time and money saving alternative to traditional methods. NIR also offers the benefit of increased safety over traditional methods. For well established process measurements, a Guided Wave ClearView® db multi-wavelength photometer can be used to achieve similar results.

  • Computerized instrumentation for the medical gas flow and scientific research

Environics gas mixing, blending and dilution systems provide for precise mixing of gases for a wide variety of clinical applications. Our systems can produce gas concentrations from percent to ppb levels for single or multi-point calibration. The high accuracy of our mixers make them the units of choice for a wide variety of laboratory and research applications. For example, Environics Biological Atmosphere Incubation Mixers provide stable and accurate gas mixes for any laboratory or clinical need. You can generate the specific reduced oxygen environments needed for anerobes as well as the enriched oxygen environments needed in a variety of cellular, viral and high density culture applications. Systems can also be used to create a specific and stable gaseous environment in a clean room. In all cases, the Environics Atmosphere Mixers allow you to use less expensive single-gas cylinders or bulk tanks in place of a high number of expensive blended cylinders.
