Peristaltic pumps and fluid path technologies for mining industry - Mining

Watson-Marlow pumps are used throughout the world in many different types of mines sweeping out other pump types because of their significant advantages for handling difficult and abrasive fluids.

The nature of abrasive, high-solids content and heavy water consumption challenge conventional pumps in mining operations. Bredel hose pumps deliver significant advantages for safely handling difficult product by:

  • No moving parts coming in contact with the product
  • Handling up to 80% solids content slurries with ease
  • Reduced downtime and lower maintenance costs
  • Significantly lower water consumption compared to other pumps
  • Self-priming and capable of running dry safely
  • Consistently accurate metering to within ±1%

Transferring product with high solids content and strong acidity creates problems for diaphragm, centrifugal and other types of pumps. The product comes into contact with working parts of the pump, increasing routine maintenance tasks and reducing the pump life. The unique design of our range of heavy duty hose pumps overcomes these challenges. The hose is the only part of the pump to come into contact with the product. This significantly lowers maintenance requirements and increases the reliability and life-span, thereby lowering the total cost of ownership. Water consumption in our pumps is extremely low, due to the ability of handling slurries with up to 80% solids content.

Our pumps are self-priming and can run dry indefinitely without the need for protection. They offer accurate and repeatable metering to ±1% thoughout the life of the pump.
