Lost wax metal casting yields significant concentrations of hydrocarbons (paraffin), acetone and alcohol vapors. In precious metal casting emissions are treated to remove phenol, formaldehyde and alcohols released during the curing of the mix that contains phenol-formaldehyde resins.
