Removal of organic compounds & toxity for wastewater treatment industry - Water and Wastewater - Water Treatment
Calgon Carbon can provide a wide range of capital and service equipment to address specific customer needs. Flow rates from less than a few liters per minute to thousands of gallons per minute are effectively and economically treated through Calgon Carbon designed and manufactured equipment every day of the year. Highly evolved designs resulting from years of actual experience allow us to specify small, portable adsorbers up through large, multi-vessel installations with intricate piping and instrumentation networks. Owning and operating our own versatile fabrication facility means that we can respond to unique material requirements reflecting aggressive process stream conditions as well. This means that once you have installed and commissioned a Calgon Carbon piece of equipment you can relax and let the carbon do the work!
It's no secret: there has been a growing scarcity of water in many areas of the world, including the United States.
The need to conserve our precious water supplies has given rise to a heightened consciousness of water reuse technologies, which include the latest in ultraviolet (UV) disinfection. As a world leader in developing today's UV technologies, Calgon Carbon is taking UV disinfection to a new level by combining UV with an oxidizing agent such as hydrogen peroxide (advanced oxidation process/AOP), producing highly reactive hydroxyl radicals to oxidize organic contaminants in water. UV AOP is increasingly the process of choice for indirect potable reuse (IPR), where high-quality recycled water is injected into an aquifer used for drinking water. UV AOP is highly effective for abatement of nitrosamines, pharmaceutical products, personal care products and endocrine disrupters present in the wastewater.
Activated carbon adsorption is another proven reuse technology. When applied to industrial wastewater, it is highly effective on soluble organic chemicals and contaminants of emerging concern such as endocrine disruptors.
C3 Series for Water Reuse
Calgon Carbon's exclusive C3 Series wastewater disinfection systems use UV light energy to disinfect wastewater and prevent the spread of waterborne pathogens to lakes, streams, rivers and coastal waters. The UV light damages the DNA of bacteria, viruses and protozoan cysts preventing DNA replication and rendering these pathogens harmless.
Our compact C3 Series is a reliable, cost-effective solution for industrial wastewater and reuse disinfection. The C3 Series product range includes our newest innovation - the C3500 D - a patent-pending design for the most challenging wastewater reuse and low-effluent quality applications.
- Models accommodate all flow range applications, including lower-quality effluents
- Low-pressure, high-output lamp design
- Rugged, open-channel, self-cleaning, modular design
- National Water Research Institute (NWRI) validated for reuse applications
