Ultraviolet Disinfection system for the ATEX hazardous area UV systems - Water and Wastewater - Water Treatment
ATEX Certified UV Systems for Hazardous Zones 1 & 2. As a key water treatment technology, UV systems are increasingly required to be design for use in hazardous areas with explosive atmospheres. Whilst there are many UV systems available on the market, there are very few that can meet the strict requirements of the ATEX & IECEX directives for installation into explosive atmospheres and classified hazardous zones. atg UV Technology is the worlds` leading supplier of ATEX and IECEX certified UV Systems and skid packages for operation in hazardous area Zones 1 and 2. In addition atg UV Technology are the only UV manufacturer in the World to specilise in ATEX and IECEX certified equipment for the oil, gas and petrochemical sectors.
Our ATEX Zone 1 and Zone 2 Hazardous Area Applications Include: -
- ATEX Potable Water Packages
- ATEX B.O.P. Fluid Treatment Packages
- ATEX Process Water Packages
- ATEX Wastewater Treatment Packages
- ATEX High Purity Water Packages (Pharmaceuticals)
A unique feature of the atg UV Technology design is the development of the worlds’ first Ex d design for both the UV chamber and control panels. Ex d designs (shown above) utilise flameproof protection and are designed to fully withstand an internal explosion. Using specially engineered Ex d flame path joints, the UV chamber and local control panel enclosure will allow the release of expansion gases following an explosion to be relieved through the joints, whilst not permitting the explosion flames to be transmitted into the external atmosphere.
In relation to Ex p or purged designs, which use positive gas pressure to create a safe area within the panel, Ex d solutions are significantly favored by operators as Ex d equipment is proven to be safer, more robust, smaller, lighter and requires significantly less installation and maintenance activity. In addition, due to the complex nature of Ex p designs and the requirement for a safe gas supply, Ex d solutions are often far more cost effective to both purchase and install.
The atg UV Technology Hazardous Area UV System design includes:-
- ATEX Zone 1& 2, Ex d (Flame Proof) UV Chambers
- ATEX Zone 1 & 2, Ex e (Enhanced Safety) Amalgam UV Lamps
- ATEX Zone 1Ex d (Flame Proof) Local Control Panels
- ATEX Zone 1Ex e (Enhanced Safety) Junction Boxes
- ATEX Zone 1Ex ia (Intrinsically Safe) Instrumentation
atg UV Technology designs are suitable for ATEX Zones 1 and 2, and can accommodated Temperature Classification T3, and Gas Groups IIA, IIB and IIB+H2 as standard. As the world leader for Hazardous Area solutions, atg UV Technology can provide either standalone UV systems, or fully integrated ATEX skid package designs featuring all required equipment such as valves, filters, pumps and instrumentation.
