Conventional collection of source separated waste using separate containers was com-pared to collection in bags with different colours and optical sorting (OptiBag). Purity was found to be high, especially in the OptiBag system. However the conventional system had new instructions for sorting, which may have influenced the result. Sources for heavy metals are identified as waste metal fraction, non PE-plastics and miscellaneous inert ma-terial. Recovery rate was higher in the conventional, and older system. As much as 95% of the organic waste was separately collected. The OptiBag system shows a recovery rate of 79%.
