While ABUTEC operates across various industry segments providing the highest efficiency control of waste gas, a majority of the projects and applications ABUTEC participates in lie within the oil industry. Recently, ABUTEC along with experienced process-engineering firm Venture Engineering, was commissioned to create a custom NGL (natural gas liquid) Adsorption system for a natural gas production company whose site is located in Washington County, Pennsylvania and has major operations throughout the Marcellus Shale.
The client had a NGL Adsorption System whose gas did not meet pipeline quality requirements. Additionally, the client was facing two distinct problems; wet gas and a problem with the gas having a less than three percent liquid makeup. Wet gas is a typical problem in Southwestern Pennsylvania (Marcellus Shale) where the client is located. Further, the gas had a higher hydrocarbon dew point at the cricodentherm, the maximum temperature above which liquid cannot be formed regardless of pressure, meaning Natural Gas Liquids (NGL)’s needed to be removed in order to lower the dew point and satisfy pipeline requirements.
