1. The problem

Effluents with remarkably salinity, polluted with biologically active agrochemicals ans solvents (methanol, aromates, dichlormethane, methyl-isobutyl-ketone, etc.).

Characterisation:

COD ~ 5,0 to 10,0 g/L,
TKN ~ 0,3 g/L to 1,0 g/L
NaCl ~ 10 to 28 g/L (remarkably fluctuating)
Up to 1,0 g/L of COD-components are inhibiting active substances.

2. The solution

Lab scale tests pointed to feasibility of anaerobic-aerobic treatment with biomass, immobilised on LEVAPOR carrier, results of pilot scale tests served as basis for design of a technical scale plant.

COD-elimination ~ 88-93%
Nitrification ~ > 99 %
