Industrial wastewater is a result of manufacturing, agricultural, environmental, and research activities. Managing the treatment and discharge of industrial effluents is a critical process that ensures compliance with regulatory ordinances, upholds public health and safety, and guarantees the protection of natural and public resources. Classical processes are typically employed to deal with substances or compounds that do not pose a special challenge to treatment and disposal. However, advanced technologies are required to handle toxic wastes or problematic samples, such as those with a high brine content.

Employing total organic carbon (TOC) analysis to monitor the effectiveness of advanced oxidation techniques helps ensure that a wastewater treatment approach will be cost-effective and compliant. Using new technologies, two global pioneers in the field of wastewater—Advanced Oxidation, Ltd. (Penryn, United Kingdom) and GE Analytical Instruments (Boulder, United States)—partnered to optimize and validate the effectiveness of a new wastewater neutralization process.
