Faced with a complex task to monitor a methane leak in Alaska’s Cook Inlet, Aridea Solutions selects In-Situ as its go-to partner to meet a host of challenges and help protect critical beluga whale habitat.

Challenge
In February 2017, drill-rig workers discovered a methane leak from an aging ocean-floor pipeline bubbling up in Alaska’s Cook Inlet. The leak was reported, and the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation (ADEC) instituted rigorous monitoring requirements, primarily because the area is one of the world’s only breeding grounds for beluga whales and is designated as critical habitat for the endangered species.
